Quote
Nationals assistant general manager and vice president of scouting operations Kris Kline called Parker’s delivery “funky” and “unconventional”. And this is a good thing, according to Parker’s college coach at San Jacinto, Tom Arrington.

“Mitchell is unique in his delivery,” Arrington said. “His arm slot and his arm is a little longer on the back side, but it comes out of the same slot with each of his pitches. He creates a tunneling effect. He can throw the four-seam fastball, which has got good spin rate on it. And then the tunneling of the breaking ball coming right out of that same slot, it’s hard to hold up on. I think he had over two strikeouts per inning. That’s tough to do, even at our level.”

Once cavalli (and probably Henry) move up to AA, I imagine he’ll be called up to Wilmington

If that delivery stays consistent, he's going to fare really well against righty batters.  That ball is really well hidden from that handle.

Through 10 starts in Fredericksburg - 57.1 IP with a monstrous 85/21 K/BB - 4.08 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP.

Should see him in AA some time this summer. Very promising stuff.

That's probably a little aggressive. He was just promoted to Wilmington yesterday. He's at 57 innings, and his career high post high school was 64ip in JuCo. Theyre probably going to watch his innings. And with a 4 Era at A-, it might be a bit much to expect the same level of success at A+, then on to AA. Unless he totally dominates 5 or 6 starts in, I'd think he closes at Wilmington, looking for the bump to AA next year.

Yeah, good point that he just got up to A+. That K/9 ratio just had me daydreaming.

It's great to dream on. I'm excited to see how he develops too. I just think this year, of all years, they'll be extra cautious with guys.

Has started two games for Wilmington, lost twice, 2.87 ERA, 15 innings, 16 hits, 20 strikeouts and only 5 walks. He has thrown 300 pitches in those 15 innings, and average of 20 per inning. Maybe that's a concern?

I read it as 1.34, but, no, that's not special. But he has not collapsed in his first two starts in Wilmington.

Starting tonight against Aberdeen. Wilmington lineup includes CF Ricardo Mendez, hitting .319 after hitting .228 in Fredericksburg, Yasel Antuna at SS (average up to .234), the new catcher Drew Millas (hitting .312 with .737 OPS at Wilmington, same OPS and .255 previous team).

5.0 IP with 1 ER last night. Five starts in, looks pretty good in at a level he struggled against last year.

I think he is due for Harrisburg soon and I have him as my dark horse for a couple late season starts as they try to get to the finish line.

Last two outings:
4 IP 4 H 1 ER 2 BB 5 K
5 IP 3 H 1 ER 3 BB 9 K
Improved to 36.2 IP 2.21 ERA 1.28 WHIP 48k/28BB is a concerning ratio. Too many walks.

I'm sticking with this prediction.
