I would also credit this umpire with standing behind the catcher, with a direct line-of-sight across the plate to the pitcher, rather than like so many umps who stand over the catcher's shoulder such that they are viewing the plate at an angle and often miss calls on pitches to the outside.

This is a huge game. Games like these decide our season.

I assume this is why Davey has the pitcher bat eighth.

I hate when a Nats pitcher gets to 1 - 2 on a hitter, and then "buries" the next pitch in the dirt, hoping the batter will swing. And then buries the 2 - 2 pitch in the same spot for the same reason. And then faces 3 - 2. Why is 1 - 2 a waste pitch? If you waste 1 - 2, doesn't that put more pressure on 2 - 2?

Are you not entertained?

Hand doing the old waste 1 at 1 - 2. The strikes him out with corner-nipper at 3 - 2. Exhale.

The tears of the Atlanta fans and announcers are sweet.

Much better than watching the Wizards get eliminated

We need an animated gif of the Soto homer nailing the Braves fan in the face.
