This home plate ump really sucks.  He is completely fooled by the catcher's glove framing the pitches

No way Soto is off on that many takes in an AB. I will take Soto's strike zone judgment at this point over most umps. He's Wade Boggs in terms of an eye

Soto is more like Eddie Yost: the best eye. Umpires let Eddie call the close ones. If he didn't swing, it was a ball. Led the AL in walks six times. Career OBP of .394.

How many games is this now where there was a little hope that the game was still close, and the offense might finally get it together, only for the bullpen to give up even more runs?

Soto is certainly an anxious/pressing hitter right now putting himself in a weakened bad position to drive pitches especially on the outer-half. He’ll get out of it, but it’s not going to happen overnight.
Kevin Long needs to get him back to thinking, “drive the ball towards left-centerfield”. That would help with keeping him closed off just enough to drive the baseball again. If not, the slump continues.

Guess that feeling I had of winning this game came from indigestion brought on by an anchovy pizza and six pack I had for lunch.  We’ll get them tomorrow!!!

Let’s go Naaaaaaaaats!!!

Is it a shame that the fanbase doesnt believe, or a shame that the Nationals have given no reason for the fanbase to believe

No reason to at this point

you know, it's funny, Scraps, but by the stats, Soto is pulling less now than he did from 2018-2020.  By the numbers, he pulled 36% his rookie year, 39% in 2019, 33% in 2020, and 29% this year.  Much more up the middle this year and last than his first two.  He's hitting it on the ground more.  It's really a lack of elevating the ball that's causing trouble on his contact. Whether it's the shoulder, swing adjustment, or luck, I don't know.

this team's record of coming from behind is dismal...they can hardly hold a lead...
everyone swings at crap, watches the good stuff....over and over and over....
heard Josh Bell's after game blather...what a putz....'we gotta hit better'....how profound...
baseball salaries should be performance based....on current performance, not last year's...either produce or subsist on league minimums...
