Uh, a 37 year old on 1 day of rest after 65 pitches?  Besides him having murdered Martinez for pulling him from a game in which he was cruising and virtually guaranteed a W that Hand won't flush like he did the last one?

I agree, but I just think they should pull him to protect him after a season of limited innings

Would make sense to lift him after 5 with a big lead.  Good night to give Hand an easy inning.

Lame bunt.  Shoulda let him swing away, come on it's 11-0

I really like Dave Martinez but that’s not cool bunting guys over with an 11-0 lead - Baseball etiquette 101. Scherzer has been bunting poorly lately so maybe Martinez just wanted to get him some practice getting  it down is my guess. That said, back in the day someone would have gotten tattooed for that.

Hopefully we’ll keep this thing rollin’! Go Naaaaaaaaats!!!!

A position player bunting, yeah, would probably violate the unwritten rules, but I think it's generally expected of pitchers to bunt in that situation. I wonder what the reaction would be if he swung away and hit a gapper? But a pitcher just passively leaving the bat on his shoulder and taking the out is basically an argument for the DH.

Of non-Nats matters, he talked about Warren Spahn, Bengie Molina, and the Royals/White Sox collision, but no Cards references that I caught.

I’m back-and-forth on wanting the DH or not. One minute I can’t take watching pitchers hit anymore then the next minute I like the added strategies that the hitting pitcher brings to the game. Double-switches, matchups, and having to use your entire roster throughout the season. I’m Mr. flip-flop.

Let’s go NATS!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
