Got gas (petrol)?
« Topic Start: May 12, 2021, 11:46:03 AM »
According to the gas buddy tracker at https://tracker.gasbuddy.com/ 12 of the 15 stations near me are out of gas. North Carolina seems to be in the worst shape.

I got gas last night before the local 7-11 station ran out, it took about 20 minutes or so to get through the line.

I wonder how many of the people lining up for gas are idling their vehicles while waiting on line (thus wasting gas) instead of turning them off. Not a crazy thought, either: I remember in the days after Hurricane Fran in 1996, when I was living in Durham, North Carolina, the news had some woman complaining that she ran out of gas while waiting on line.

Here in the Richmond suburbs, at least 75% are out of gas today.   How long is this supposed to last?  I imagine businesses are going to start running into issues with supplies and workers if this continues more than a day or two.

Time to invest in a Tesla, bidet, a garden, some solar panels and some chickens, and brew my own beer, and I'll be good.

I heard on WTOP last night that they expect it to be back up by the end of this week.

I wonder what the lag between the pipeline being restored and gas back into the gas stations is?  A couple days?

to help out, I've been eating chili a couple times this week with some extra beans.  Hi-fiber cereal, a microwave burrito bowl from TJs, and a fried chicken sandwich just to upset my digestion.  Going light on the extra fiber wheat bread, but that'll be tonight. Maybe some chickpeas.

But seriously, restart is always complicated in any industrial operation.  Accidents occur most often on restart and shutdown.  I'd imagine the pumps that keep the stuff moving, and refilling the breakout tanks, will be the things that could go wrong.  Maybe a pressure fluctuation in the pipe.

I always use paper bags instead of plastic to store my gasoline.

Next to the backyard grill, right?

The issue is that Rizzo bought a couple of cheap, used pipelines that were very good in 2018 but have been awful since then.

The Shell on Columbia Pike and Walter Reed (the one that also sells injera bread) was out of gas this afternoon and a TV reporter was on site with a camera reporting that it was out of gas.

CNN reporting that colonial took the pipeline offline because their billing system was compromised and they didn’t know what to charge customers.

Upper MoCo, which is officially unaffected by this shortage, has ridiculous gas lines. :smh:

It is always dumb rednecks that screw situations up like this.   Saw a guy in Clemson, SC trying to fill up a suitcase with gas
