He's still the guy who in the Miami brawl gingerly jogged to the mound while Pat Listach put aside his hate for Nyjer Morgan to defend the name on the front of the jersey.

Brawls are stupid. Players who tip toe instead of defending the jersey are worse.

there's got to be someone out there with ties to the Nationals who can be entertaining and informative in the booth.  How about Brian Dozier?

I wonder if a guy who's made 30 million in his career has any appetite to take a job that probably pays about 100k?  If it is going to be a Nats era player, I think it has to be a guy who never got to the point of getting fat FA contracts or who has blown all his money.  Maxwell is awfully boring, so they need to do something.

Ryan Zimmerman. His limited interviews have always been fun and he has been around since Day 1. But I doubt they can afford to pay him enough unless he wants to be an announcer.

I think Drew Storen or Tyler Clippard would be perfect studio guys, but I think both of those guys left DC on bad terms.

I was about to say Rick Ankiel, turns out he is already on Cardinals broadcasts.

Maybe Ian Desmond or Denard Span after they retire.

Is Emmanuel Burriss still in DC? I don't imagine he's rich.

Wasn't Drew Storen's dad a sports talk radio guy?

Yes, he is the son of former XM Radio's Mark Patrick.

Zimmerman doing commentary from the bench when he's not playing would be good.

Joey Eischen would be fun, though he would be bleeped out even more than Gordon Ramsey

$About 100,000? Is that what we believe FP takes down? I'd be shocked if that was the going rate for a color man, here or elsewhere.

That's what some googling pulled up.  Does that seem high or low?

Definitely low! Believe that Mets color man, Keith Hernandez, makes around $825,000 a season.  He's considered at or near the top of his profession, and it is the NY market, but still ....

Yep. There is no way FP would relocate for part of each year to the DMV for $100k. I would guess he makes $500 K.

There are college basketball and football radio people who make almost if not more than $100,000. FP doing 162 games of TV probably makes at least $300,000.

That is a lot of money for anyone short of a former $100,000,000 contract player.

In defense of Maxwell, he got thrust into this role with literally no notice. He was in the area going to dental school so I applaud him for going back to school and pursuing a new career. He’ll probably be better the more he works with veteran Bob Carpenter as opposed to fellow rookie Dan Kolko.
