In a surprisingly one-sided Grand Final, Geelong thrashed Sydney 20-13-133 to 8-4-52. Issac Smith became the oldest winner of the Norm Smith Medal (MVP) and claimed his fourth Premiership - unfortunately, three of those were with Hawthorn, at the time of the current serious allegations...

The AFL Commission has actually listened, after years of lobbying about the relative pointlessnss of pre-season games...

Send a note to Goodell. College football has been done without pre-season games.

The annual early Christmas present has arrived - the fixture reveal for the 2023 AFL Season... :D  :woop:

https://www.afl.com.au/news/871083/2023-fixture-primetime-lion-kings-blockbusters-galore-bye-tweak

As always, the AFL seeks to equalize the competiton, so the fixture is based on where a team finishes in the previous season. Accordingly, reigning Premiers Geelong have the toughest list, whilst West Coast and North Melbourne have relatively less challenging lists (not that there are any easy games, in the AFL...).

this could be in any of the college sports threads, but Charlie Baker will become the President of the NCAA in March, 2 months after his term as Governor of Massachusetts expires.

Somehow I just don't feel sorry for him.  Really funny how they got him.  :hysterical:

Would never have thought a kickboxer was so dumb.

I might have missed it personally. No one has accused me of extreme intelligence though.

Would never have thought a kickboxer was so dumb.

And we're off, again!!!  :woop: :woop:   The new AFL (Aussie Rules) season got underway, today, with the traditional season opener between Richmond and Carlton, in front of a crowd of over 88,000. Worth a look... ;)

Speaking of Richmond, AFC Richmond is predicted to finish last this year.

A note of caution - today's game (Geelong v Collingwood) was great. However, the game was marred by a sickening collision between Collingwood's Jeremy Howe and Geelong's Tyson Stengle, which left Howe in agony, with bone protruding through skin - you might want to close your eyes during the highlights (first half). Of course, watching live...

Quinnipiac wins Bridgeport regional and advances to the Frozen Four. There will be two B1G teams, even though fewer than 10 play hockey. Minnesota will play Boston University, while Quinnipiac will play the winner of Michigan-Penn State. I think BU is a bit of a surprise, with a good late season run.
