.198/.250/.372 would be an improvement over Josh Bell :stir:

If the Nats were in the AL, I’d say sign him up.

Wow.  And how are the Angels in last place...that seems to defy laws of physics.

it really makes no sense, you'd think Ohtani/Trout/Rendon could themsleves win at least 80 games even if no other players took the field. :)

Looking at the stats: 5th best in runs scored, 2nd worst in runs allowed. Ohtani is the only starter with an ERA below 4.00.

Well, Rendon is hurt, the rest of the lineup besides those three and Walsh reeks, they only have three usable starting pitchers, and their bullpen is awful.  I'd say they're lucky to be doing as well as they are.

So, basically the MLS school of roster construction (a couple of stars and then some guys off the street).  I'd still watch them for Ohtani-san alone TBH.

it's the Anti-Billy-Ball approach. If they want to reallocate the Pujols money, they should offer it to Beane.  They just got swept in a four-game series by Tampa of all teams.

Albert Pujols has a hit vs 10.2 percent of all the pitchers who have played in major league history.

I didn't. I had to check because I simply didn't believe it.

Worst contract ever. He cheated about his age he was actually 35 years old when he signed that 10 year contract.  :mg:

Man the Cardinals couldn't have played that any better - got a bunch of Barry Bonds years and no decline years, and now they'll get to welcome him back to the franchise fold as he enters the HOF as a Card.

Good for them seeing that really good, not great 2011 as a sign of decline and not as a blip.

Maybe that was it, but I think it had more to do with the price tag they knew would be associated with Pujols

I think they were ready to offer him a really big contract. Then the Angels paid him a really massive contract.

Right, but I'm confused.  The Angels management said that he wanted to play everyday, and they couldn't accommodate that.  He's definitely not going to play everyday with the Dodgers.   So, that means Angels management was lying?

Or that Pujols changed his mind with an offer from a better team.

3rd possibility - he looked for a full time spot and no one had one.

Lux isn't hitting. They can slide Muncy over and play Pujols at 1st some of the time, maybe against lefties

It was reported he was willing to take a part-time role in St Louis

From what I read earlier Pujols has been very good still against LHP. He’ll start against them and pinch hit otherwise.

Lux can’t hit lefties.
