is that our top 5 pitching prospects? Rutledge, Cavalli, Henry, Adon, Cronin.  Pretty close, right? I guess Cate would be in there, and probably Lara ahead of Adon, and there's Romero, too, due to proximity to the majors.

A fair number of guys on that roster who haven't budged from high-A since 2019 (or in some cases, 2018).

My first thought was "impressive roster" then I wondered why a couple of those players are still there.

Rutledge and Adon got the first two starts, both were solid but not spectacular - 5IP/2ER for Adon, 4.2 / 2ER for Rutledge.

0-2 to start the year.

Virginia Tech alum Zach Brzykcy has opened up with 7 scoreless at Wilmington with 11Ks. 3H, 4BB.  The Nats signed him as a NDFA last fall.

Likely to be some solid NDFA showing across the league this year given the short draft last year.  The Nats could have used that as a way to really fix the system by bringing in a raft of high-upside guys with issues (the $20k signing bonus cap meant cheap, but also lots of guys would just go back).  The Royals in particular did a good job there.  The Nats...eh, not so much.

Wilmington is now 9 - 9 after obliterating Aberdeen 15 - 5 on Sunday. Aberdeen is probably a Baltimore farm team. Cavalli pitched 6 innings, gave up 1 ER and had 7 K's and 2 walks. ERA now about 2.05. Antuna got a hit.

In a nod to Tony LaRussa, Wilmington added 5 runs in the top of the 9th.

From MLB.COM

Nationals: Israel Pineda, C (No. 15), High-A Wilmington

Pineda went yard twice for his second multihomer game of the season as he drove in three of Wilmington’s four runs on the day. With his two dingers on Sunday, the 21-year-old has now reached his career-high mark of seven home runs through 44 games this season -- he hit seven last year through 101 games.

2021 marked the first season that the Wilmington Blue Rocks were affiliated with the Washington Nationals. Unfortunately, the Blue Rocks were unable to play their last game today against Bowling Green due to weather.

The Blue Rocks finished in fourth place in the High-A East North Standings with a record of 52-64. RHP Matt Cornin lead the team with four saves, and LHP Alex Troop led the team in wins with eight. Outfielder Justin Connell led the Blue Rocks with a batting average of .293 and shortstop Yasel Antuna led the team with 55 runs and RBI’s with 65.
