I keep saying this but he had a mediocre regular season and several losses in the PO's. He was great for 3 innings in game 7. I thought it was an overpay and in the 2020 prediction thread I voted Corbin the biggest disappointment.

Corbin was a top 15 pitcher in all of baseball in 2019. He provided 200+ innings of 3.25 ERA pitching. Not sure how you work that to be mediocre

Bring up Cavalli and lock Corbin into the bullpen.

Sometimes, I imagine that Corbin learns to become a Crafty Lefty, but maybe he's not interested in throwing anything but a 92 mph fastball and the slider that all hitters know by now.

We've seen this season that Corbin can throw mid 90's still. He strikes me at this point as a guy who could be very effective as a reliever, and somebody needs to force him to the bullpen. Make him air it all out on every pitch and do it for just one inning at a time. He only rarely shows he can get through an order multiple times, so perfect for a reliever.

Why would you bring up Cavalli and waste service time on this awful year?

Alternatively, why waste wear and tear on his arm in AAA?

Is he beating down the door? I didn’t think he was so good that he couldn’t benefit from more time in AAA. Is that incorrect. I’ll admit I’m don’t follow the prospects as much as I should/could.

He's got a 2.27 ERA since his June 4th start. 10 K/9, 3.03 BB/9. Only hiccup  was the blister.

I mean if Gray can work on pitching at the MLB level, why can't Cavalli?

Fair enough. I just hate bringing him up now on this crap team. We always seem to screw this up.

Allows him to get a taste and start fixing crap.  Gray was better off this year because of his stretch last year.  Same idea.

I like the idea of Cavalli pitching a six month season without overly taxing his arm.

I think there's a good chance that Cavalli is called up by the of the month and Gray gets shut down a month early.  Gray is quite a bit over the max innings he's thrown in a season and being the Nats, they want to baby his arm just a bit.

I'm fine with that. Gray has had ups and downs this season, but I'm really confident he is going to be a solid mid-rotation starter for this team for most of the 2020's.

Lock Corbin into the bullpen. When he starts, he goes about three innings, so he drags down the bullpen anyway.

Someone has to start games. Who else do we put there?

In August, he can start. In September, we can call up Cavalli and Adon. Hopefully Gore is healthy enough to start. And they can put Corbin in the pen and tell him that he should anticipate being a pen arm next season

Could always put a uni back on Mark Lerner. He’d probably sign himself to an extension.

Adon has been AWOL for weeks. I posted about it in the Red Wings thread. He's gone. I can't figure out where he is.

He might just be shut down for a few weeks.  He was only at 105 innings last year, and this year he's at 72.  Start him back in AAA in a week or so and even 4 innings per start the rest of the way gets him over that total.

He will gladly accept all the deferred money too.

Corbin clearly wants to be DFAd, he wants to take his money and go home. I get it, he doesn't have his touch and even Rizzo is saying he's a negative value for the team. But Martínez shouldn't make it so easy. 100 pitches per outing regardless of runs scored. Make him want to quit so bad that he forfeits at least some of his salary.

No he doesnt. Quit being stupid. If he didnt want to pitch he'd just say his shoulder is sore.
