Call it 2 hours.  Can you consume more than a six-pack over 2 hours?  We will call that Out-Corbining Corbin.

That"s challenging, but I'll certainly give it a shot. Trying to watch this team while I'm sober can be especially annoying.

Let's see: he puts up a 6+ ERA over about 5 innings per start.  Figure that is 5/9 over a 3:30 game, or 210 minutes.  (5*210)/9 = roughly 117 minutes per outing.  Call it 2 hours.  Can you consume more than a six-pack over 2 hours?  We will call that Out-Corbining Corbin.

Back in the day, no problem for me. With age came a loss of guzzle velocity. Kind of like a pitcher aging.

I would probably mix it up. 4 jacks, 2 beers. I think 4 in the first hour 2 in the second. I'm out of shape.  Probably did it back in 2019, but now, I would have to blow off a doctor's suggestion. Without built up tolerance, it would be tough

He at least takes the ball every 5 days.  Gio did too.  It's about the nicest thing I have on Gio Gonzalez, but he took the ball every time even when it was going badly.

?? Frustrating at times for sure but overall a very good pitcher. Not comparable to post-2019 Corbin at all.

Not even a contest, especially since I could start drinking before the first pitch.

I didn't say he was a bad pitcher.  I just absolutely hated watching him pitch, and Game 5 against St. Louis is seared into my brain forever.

I highly advise this to anyone who intends to keep watching this raging dumpster fire on a nightly basis.

I've edited the post to the gist of what I think was meant.  Basically, if he was no longer around here, in baseball, and on the Nats, would anyone really feel something emotionally.
Thanks JCA, I didn't mean it literally (although if he got abducted by aliens I wouldn't be satisfied).  My real wish is that he gets banished to Siberia.  I hear Siberia has golf courses that will take your breath away.

BTW -- I think the post by Natsinpwc at the end of last night's GDT is just as crass:
"...At least Don Sutton is dead so we don’t have to listen to his drunken musings.".

Good call, although ending up in a padded cell screaming Corbin's and Strasburg’s name over and over is not the way I want to go out. Watching the LSD induced visual trails that follow home runs hit off this staff might be kind of cool though.

Regarding Don Sutton - I really don't edit heavily, especially GDTs.  Those things tend to go by and no one dwells on them.  In a regular clubhouse thread, people spot it anytime.  That, and 4 or 5 consecutive comments on it prompted the edits.

I feel like Corbin is just nibbling around the edges of true darkness, not even close to HeWhoCannotbeNamed (who pitched on 13 Oct 2012)

You mean the starter or the closer?  I'd pretty much forgotten about the latter after a decade of life, some brain tissue loss, and a World Series.

So neither the Orioles nor the Pirates are worth talking about, but Corbin has sitting 94-96 the last three starts

Interesting pattern for Corbin.  His first 7 starts (4/7-5/10), his average fastball topped 92 only once.  His next 7 starts, his average fastball was between 92 & 92.7.  His past 2 starts, his average fastball has been 93.1 & 93.7.  Slider velocity is not as clear of a pattern, but also was slow his first 7 starts (79 - 81), and now is 82-83.5 his last seven starts.  Yesterday was his second lowest changeup usage (2.7%).  There was an April start vs. SF that was lower usage, but in that start his mix as 70% fastballs (92.5 average) and 28% sliders (80 average).  In contrast, yesterday was nearly equal, 52% (93.7 avg) & 45% (82 avg).  Where and how he's finding the velocity is a good question, but it seems like a steady pattern.

There's another thing about Corbin's last two starts, which is his K/BB ratio.  13.5 K/9, 2.25 BB/9, for a ratio of 6.00.  Against Baltimore, it was the contact that killed him (lots pulled, lots hard, lots in the air, lots flying out), but yesterday, there was little solid (just the dinger).

if Rizzo manages to trade Corbin for something of value, he should get a statue outside of the park.

well, it would have to be a 2 month stretch of quality from him, and he'd have to be wrapped up with Bell, Edwards, and perhaps Henry or Cavalli, and we might have to take back money in the form of another overpay.

Trading Corbin for something of value would be some team picking up ~30%-40% of his salary and sending back a 26 year old light hitting corner infielder in AA in return.

Patrick Corbin a is a couple decent starts from a sub-6 ERA.
