10.62ERA  :mg: :mg: how can we get rid of him?
According to some on this board, Corbin is valuable and all the Nats have to do is place him on waivers and someone will take him

Once he clears waivers and the Nats have to pay his salary someone will sign him.

could you just imagine the melt down if he did clear waivers, was released, and then found his stuff for a team like KC?

Boswell has a smart opinion on Corbin: he is rushing his delivery. Once Corbins settles down, he will be as good as 2019 and before.

more likely he peaked in 2018 and 2019, got worn down by the World Series, and is now cooked and we're stuck with our first major albatross contract. Boswell is just a fan who is looking for any reason to believe a guy who had like 2 good years before coming here is going to be anything but a turd every 5th day.

Strasburg is heading down the same path unfortunately but more due to injury than talent degrading.

That's rather silly.  Corbin's almost 32.  He wasn't a late bloomer (a la Scherzer or Lance Lynn).  Such guys aren't going to miraculously get better in their 30s or even stay the same.  Corbin has a major arm surgery in his background and threw 225 innings in 2019.  He might get fixed, but he almost certainly won't be that good again.

Right now, he looks to be dead on the Jordan Zimmermann track: up and good in early 20s, TJ surgery then, strong, near #1 starter peak in late 20s, big FA deal, then...yeah, look away.  Similar stuff, too, just from the other side.

And no one on the team has pointed this out to him?

They hired a pitching coach whose claim to fame is making all his pitchers throw a lot of changeups, so who freaking knows.

3.00 ERA over his last 5 starts, he's good.

I was "working " so I didn't catch the velocity on his fastball, but the post game said it was good. What was he throwing?

Also, I think Svrluga or someone asked about him throwing the slider 49% of the time and Davey talking about that being good. No walks 9 ks sound like he was on.

Reposting from another (earlier) thread:

The Corbin signing was a success because he helped the Nats win a World Series.  Everything from here on out is gravy (same as Jason Hayward with the Cubs).

Comparing the Nats to the Cubs is a bad omen. They were expected to be a dynasty after 2016, with a young core and deep pockets.

The absolute worst signing in Nats history. Screw the apologists who refer to his 3 inning outing in game 7. How many games did he lose in the past three years?
