I think the nuances of roster shaping were likely short-circuited by off-season orders for short contracts and not breaking the cap — I mean threshold — unless an extraordinary opportunity presented itself.
Old Billionaires shouldn’t worry about the cap. You can’t take it with you.

I'll guarantee you right now that most MLB teams would be interested in Kieboom

Rizzo is intent on cramming him down our throat until he has absolutely zero value

Not really. Glad they were able to win one during their window. I dont think many people realize how good the Nationals were from 2012-2019. They had the second most wins in baseball. Most people expected them to win more than one WS. Or at least compete for one.

Lol, how many did the Cubs win during their window? Dodgers have been good for the past ten years. How many have they won? How many did the Tigers win during their window?

Oof, the Wiz game isnt much better

Why would you want them to win at this point?  Tank all the way.

Extraordinary opportunity?  How about the best C and one of the best 3Bs/hitters in the game available and got Alex Avila and Carter Kieboom.

Dodgers got cheated.

The Cubs window was about half the size.

The point was that from 2012 to 2018, this team couldnt get out of the NLDS. All those teams you mentioned managed to do that. At no point were the Nationals even close to a WS during their window

Right. Which is why he's starting tonight and has been since OD.

He also ignored the Red Sox and Giants teams that won multiple championships last decade, even though roughly half of those teams (2012 Giants and 2013 Sawx) were held together with Krazy glue.

Multiple championships in a short time is tough, but let's not pretend it's impossible, especially if a team contends regularly.

So what exactly does he do for this team then?  Besides take 3 more years to figure out that he can't hit at a major league level?  He's more valuable to bring in a reliable bat to the void at 3B we had for 2 years now.

Rizzo is hell bent on Kieboom being this teams 3B instead of actually going and getting one. Does he have to play every day to do that?  No. The fact that he refuses to actually upgrade the position that's was left void by a top hitter in the sport is all the evidence needed. He looked lost last year in the majors. He looks equally as lost in spring training this year. The solution?  Let him figure it out. Brilliant idea!!

Yea, its weird how Rizzo is supportive of young, highly talented prosepcts who are well regarded by his scouts and has been a very good hitter at every level of the minors.

You have an odd, misplaced level of confidence in the latest version of Chris Marrero.
