Letting Harper walk won us a WS, remember? Thats what the board decided.
It let them sign Corbin. Without him they don’t win. Unfortunately he has dropped off and Rendon’s bat has not been replaced at all.

wait, FP, "being the lefty we all know he can be"?  I thought we hit lefties?

See, Juan hits lefties.

How long are people going to cling to that? The Nats sacrificed a chance to win multiple championships for one ring.

Nats could have a lineup of Turner, Rendon, Soto, and Harper.

Instead, we’re forced to watch this dreck.

Harper was an easy let go, and I still don't regret it. Rendon was inexcusable. We could have also had a much better lineup if we weren't forced to watch Rizzo ram Carter Kieboom down our throat for two years straight when there is/was countless better options.

we had money for one of them, and the right choice clearly would have been Rendon.

Sure. But Rendon on the team doesn’t move the needle for 2020 (not a real season) and sure wouldn’t change the current attitude on WNFF

Also go Soto

In his short career, Soto hits lefties better than righties. Its why the Astros didnt bother bringing one in 2019

Rendon was the right choice over Strasburg. But Boras got to the Lerners while Rizzo was drunk, so here we are.

So, you’re all content that the Nats are no longer competitive because they won a ring in 2019?

If you want to bring Stras into the equation, then Rendon ... Stras ......................Harper, in that order.  Honestly, I don't know if there was a way to sign both Stras and Rendon once Corbin was on board.  Certainly if no reset on the CBT.

let's see how Corbin does in his second start, and let's see how Schwarber and Bell hit.   Just saying.

I think this all goes back to my thread on the Nationals inability to develop their pitching. Giolito becomes an ace here, we dont spend on Corbin, and one of Harper or Rendon is still here.

Outside of Jayson Werth, the franchise has neglected to pay up for offense. It’s costing them. That’s all i’m saying.

The fact remains that 3 big off season additions haven’t gotten on the field yet.

They are having good AB’s and making pitching mistakes and base running mistakes in the first week... actually less than a week. Give it time.

Was Gomes hurt in 2019? I know last season is a small sample, but he has looked good since Game 7

not arguing about the pitching development.

So, good thing this rally comes down to Hernan Perez here.

From 2012 to 2018, the Nats were 7th in runs scored. How'd all that offense work out?
