Eh, I say keep Clay to let him develop at the MLB level. Lefty relievers are a necessity and rare, so just use the rest of the season to develop him

They could bring back Lobstein. He was quite impressive.

"Impressive" is one way to describe a dude who allowed an OBP of .500 and a batting average of .429 while running up an ERA over 20.  It was certainly memorable.

I was being sarcastic of course.  Memorable is a good word for Rock Lobster.

Oh, I know.  "Impressive" was a good word as well.  "Awesome" would be another.  It certainly inspired awe.

Nats activated Hudson. He's in San Diego, listed as available.

Lol, there is no way Davey and Rizzo are gonna bench Lester this close to 200 wins
How about Corbin?  Would we move him to the bullpen?

No.  Corbin and Lester have both been crap, but Corbin eats a lot more innings.  Plus dat contract.

there  really isn't a decision until Stras is healthy, right?  It's Scherzer / Fedde / Corbin / Ross / Lester until then.  Espino is a more versatile arm at this point and can be a swing guy.

Espino is a more effective starter than Lester, who shatters everytime and early in the game. At least he has the last month or so.

Depends how much tolerance you have for Lester right now.  He was mostly okay until the last 3 starts, but they're not really at a place where they can afford to leave him in the rotation to figure it out. I'd give him one more start and then think seriously about it.

OK, one more start for Lester, but consider him an opening with Espino to follow.

there's one more start before the all star break.  I'd agree with some sort of move on move after that if there's no sign of a functional arm, or at least thinking about a move.

Pair them together.  Lester gets the first 4 innings, Paolo gets the remainder, or until Hand comes in for the save.

Welcome Derek Dietrich https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/dietrde01.shtml

Ouch.  Poor player and an absolute jerk to boot.

So who is the secret player the Nats said they were flying to SF last night? It was late, even to catch a red-eye. Rochester was in Reading, which is a healthy drive from Philadelphia and Baltimore. Swihart and Reetz were there.

It's Reetz.

That’s surprising. Lobstein DFA’d

Reetz just got to Rochester, but Swihart has played as more around the field. Reetz looked like their best-of-the-worst catchers, or at least, most favored in the system.

For those curious: last night Reetz started at catcher for Rochester and Swihart was in RF. The game was suspended for rain. Today, Swihart caught the continuation, still hitting about .200. Rafael Bautista (remember him?) moved to RF. By the way, Adrian Sanchez is at DH but Stevenson has not played today.

Reetz's home town is about 20 minutes south east of where I live.

Just signed some catcher named Rene Rivera off the street. How much do they hate Jackson Reetz?
