To add to the irony, the MLB Network talking head whose bold prediction for this season was that there would be a record number of no-hitters, was Dan Plesac.

AL wild card is interestinger. Toronto is on a tear, even stomping on the Rays.  They are now top wild card after a 9-1 stretch.  The NYY somehow are still in position for 2nd wild card after a 2-8 stretch.  Red Sox a 0 games back but with an extra loss, while Seattle is now 2 behind the NYY. Oakland is a further .5 back.

Christian Yelich bought 10,000 tickets for the upcoming series with STL and is giving them away for free to thank fans for their support.

Thank goodness for the Cubs.  Now the Phillies turn to see if they can get the record for blown saves in a year.

Side note. Phillies look best in the powder blue uniforms.

In a battle of NL wildcard contenders the Cards are pitching JA Happ with an ERA of 6.00 against Jake Arrieta who has an ERA of just over 7.00.

I'm far too big on schadenfreude, but seeing the Prellers flop has been enjoyable.

Someone here said the Cards were going to get the wild card a couple weeks ago.  Forget who it was.  I scoffed.    Good call.

I forgot they were still good that season. That's also the year Cleveland sent CC to Milwaukee. Is that also the start of Sizemore falling apart and problems with Carmona?
