my other team--the Jays--are doing their part, sweeping the Braves, and taking 2 out of 3 against the Phils.  by the way, watching the Phils in this series, I have never seen a team play worse defence, and just generally be below average in so many areas...

i'm not seeing anything wrong with the Machado slide, he was running in a straight line toward 2nd and the 2nd basemen pretty much ran into his path

he pops up to flip the guy hard.  Dude is the Richard Head of slides.  At least he didn't go spikes up on top of the rolling block and flip. No forgiveness for that SOB.

He slid 20 feet from the base.  There's really not much difference between what he did and just tackling him.

White Sox rookie hits a HR off a position player pitching to make it 15-4, on a 3-0 count. Twins aren’t happy.

Yea, seems pretty obvious he adjusted his gate to make the slide as rough as possible. Its one thing to teach players to slide early to delay the tag. But Machado stutter stepped so he could line it up to kick out the second baseman's feet.

Spencer Turnbull of the Tigers no-hits the Mariners tonight. Fifth this year. The Mariners have been no-hit twice in two weeks by the Orioles and the Tigers. That’s.....something.

I just saw Ke'Bryan Hayes got kicked to 60-day DL. That sucks. A Gold Glove hot corner prospect showing up in the majors with a massive bat had me stoked last season. Then hitting the homer opening day I just assumed he'd be my favorite player in baseball this season. Then in game #2 he's hurt.

They did say that he will be starting a rehab assignment soon, though. So you'll probably see him again this year.

I don’t understand why a team can’t concede after 7 innings esp now that they decided 7 innings are ok for DHs.

I actually really like their roster for the future. Reynolds, Moran, and Hayes are nice core to the lineup and they have a bunch of pitching with ETAs later this season and next. I like them and the Mariners a whole lot.

“And it looks like they’ve chosen to invoke the designated Manfred rule  and forgo the next two innings. Can’t blame them, save the pitching staff and come back tomorrow for another solid seven. Time of today’s game, 3 1/2 hours.”

link appears to be broken
It was about Joe West breaking the record. So that probably broke the internet.

this may be the worst fielding play in the history of baseball, there were two outs and all the 1B had to do was step on first.

MLB is alarmed at the number of suspicious baseballs collected during this period where pitchers knew of the collections. (Of course pitchers also knew this is just a survey period, and no bans would be handed down.) Tomorrow owners will discuss further enforcement.

Yes, I’m sure they are “alarmed”; I hope they can sleep tonight.
