This automatic runner on 2B rule in extras rule sucks.  As Phil Wood once said, "Manfred has never heard an idea that he didn't like."  Probably the most accurate statement that was made by anyone in the year 2020.

Manfred =  :clown:
Hope we see it today!

I actually like this rule. Makes it more exciting. 7 inning games, I hate, but I like the extra inning rule.

Manfred is awful and I hated this idea at first. Admittedly, I came to love it.

Still hate the mound visits rule, three batter minimum, and so on.

Joe Musgrove has a no hitter through eight. Padres have never had one.

Now they have one, and the pitcher is a San Diego native, to boot.

Another bit of trivia: Victor Caratini, who caught this no-hitter, also caught the last no-hitter in the majors by Alec Mills last September.

Brutal for Pirates. They got a decent return in that trade and now this guy popped. You know they're having Glasnow nightmares at this moment.

I read a couple articles about Cherington coming in and saying they had to blow up their pitching development and damn. He is right. Pirates may be worse developing pitching than the Nationals.

Joe West's candidacy for the HoF hurt by this?  I guess there's a difference between slim and none, and somehow, I never thought of putting Joe West and slim together in a sentence about the HoF, or much else.

Carlos Rodon loses a perfect game in the ninth after hitting a batter in the foot with one out, then hangs on to complete the no hitter.

At least the guy didn’t lean into it

With no outs in the 9th inning of Rodon's no-hitter (which at the time was a perfect game), the Cleveland Indians challenged a close play at first base. They lost their challenge and the runner was confirmed out, but Cleveland was down 8-0 at the time. I'm not a huge unwritten rules guy, but that challenge raised some eyebrows for me.

actually, I hate to say it, but in the late '77-'78, Red Sox "fans" (to use a nice phrase for them) used throw batteries at Mickey Rivers.  Red Sox and Yankees had a huge, huge fight in '76, which kind of kicked off the really abusive fan behavior of that era.  Rivers was one of the bad actors in the fight, along with Greg Nettles, but that era in Boston, Rivers being out in CF under a 20' wall, kind of meant he was the one who got abused (even though Nettles was the SOB who ruined Bill Lee's career).
