This has prompted a lot of articles about why the passed third strike is even a rule. It is pretty quirky, and seems unfair to penalize the pitcher and reward the batter when he struck the guy out. As a dad of a 13 yo pitcher, it's tough to watch an inning get extended when he should be out of the inning. What is the point of the rule?
It’s also not a perfect game when a fielder makes an error during a no hitter. Same difference. Have no idea why other than tradition.
