Trea had a big night.  Still looks like they will end up in the wild card.  Against the Red hot Cards.  Carp is drooling.

At an OPS+ of 77 he better be damn good defensively.  Robles was at 69 this year. If he could reach 80 would we still be running him out of town?

If Robles hit .245 with 10 homers, a dozen stolen bases, and 50 RBIs, he might have been useful this year. Instead, here is MAT:

Here is Robles, with a season or two worth demotion so he might become major-league ready:

He is.  Taylor is a damn good CF.  And Robles is also good enough defensively that he would be a viable MLB CF with approximately that offense too.  Taylor's career is pretty much the answer to that: he has a career OPS+ of 79 and yet he just got a multiyear deal for posting a season slightly below his career norms.

So we should be happy if Robles can gain just a little offense and we can take advantage of his good D at bargain rates the next couple years. I'm all in.

If Robles had hit .240 with a dozen homers this year he would not have been sent to Rochester to remember how to hit. If Robles can hit this spring, and not .200 with .600 OPS, he will be useful.

Phillies hire Howie Kendrick as special assistant to the GM.

Wow, can we still like Howie?

Yep, but if he was looking for that sort of position, the Nats taking the flyer could have been smart

Was there a thread on the Doug Fister trade?

Seems pretty clear Harper is winning.
I read that Hersheiser did the Cy Young and a Dodger did not win it. So maybe MLB throwing curve balls.

I'm no Harper fan, but he earned it this year even more than in 2015.  He almost single-handedly put his team into the postseason.  His defensive metrics are not reflective of his overall value in the field. Soto had zero pressure on him -- it would have been a travesty of justice if he won.

Hudson to Doyers, 1 year,$7 million.

Also, for the record, the guy who needed to be bailed out by Corbin after giving up a couple of runs in game7 of the 2019 world series will be making more than a couple of teams whole 2020 payrolls for the next three years in Flushing

The Mets insanely overpaid.  I've been the biggest Max fan but now I'll be rooting against him. What a revolting development!
