Wilson Ramos tore his left ACL. He has twice torn his right one. At 34 that might be it.

They'd be throwing him out at 1st from left field if he comes back from that!   I think you're probably right, and I feel a bit bad for him as he seemed like a great guy

Josh Harrison:

Quote
While Mark Canha shows signs of emerging from a slump, A’s manager Bob Melvin said Saturday he sees no reason to rush Canha back to the leadoff spot, largely due to Josh Harrison’s output there.

Harrison has started the A’s past seven games as the leadoff man. He is 12-for-32, a .375 average, with more multi-hit games (five) than strikeouts (two) in that stretch.

Tanner R:

Quote
Sept. 5: Tanner Roark cleared waivers and elected free agency The Braves signed Roark to a Minor League contract back on May 11 after he was released by the Blue Jays. He pitched well for Triple-A Gwinnett this season, mostly as a reliever. In 24 appearances (three starts), he pitched to a 2.14 ERA over 46 1/3 innings. Roark, who turns 35 on Oct. 5, was once a starter on the rise with the Nationals and has a career 3.85 ERA.

Max perfect through 7 against the Padres. This game has also netted him an immaculate inning and his 3,000th career strikeout.

Austin Adams hits another batter.  We should get him back so he can plunk some Braves.

Aye matey.

Just tuned on the Packers game.  What the heck happened to them?  Is Rodgers trying to get traded now?

Maybe this is another instance of me being an jerk, but I couldn't stand that freakin guy.  He looked like he was developing a decent changeup and then out of nowhere he just stopped throwing it, which worked okay for him in 2012, and then caught up with him in a hurry.  It seemed to go hand-in-hand with this scared mentality he had about pitching, which was frickin annoying considering he had natural talent and was a high first round pick for a reason.

6th pick on '07.  Supposed to be the second best lefty in the draft after David Price.  Moustakas and Wieters taken ahead of him too.  Mad Bum dropped to 10th pick, Jayson Heyward to 14.  Pretty unimpressive 1st round in retrospect.  Todd Frazier, Travis D'Arnaud, Sean Doolittle and Josh Donaldson went in the supplemental round.

I dunno, it looks like a weird tale of two half-rounds to me.  The first 15 picks are a pretty standard top 15.  The guys you named are pretty much all what I would consider "hits" for an MLB draft, and then Detwiler and Jarrod Parker had their moments, even if they did disappoint.  That's not great for a top 15, but it's acceptable.

But then you get to the back half of that round and it's a who's who of busts: Arencibia, Savery, Alderson, Brackman...just putrid.  Porcello was really the only one to pan out.  The second best of the bunch could well be Pete Ko--he who must not be named.

Schwarber commits a two out error at 1B that opens the floodgates and loses the game for the SAWX. They should have him in LF where he is a superior fielder.  :hysterical:

I've said before, I did not get trading for him to play 1st. I thought Bell would have been a better fit, but maybe he was not on the market. K. HErnandez is back, so they went with their regular outfield (Verdugo 7 - Hernandez 8 - Renfroe 9). They made a choice to play Schwarber at 1st and Jose Iglesias at 2nd rather Schwarbs in the OF, Dalbec at 1st, and Hernandez at 2nd.  I guess that's better D at 3 positions and worse at 1.

.271 / .407 / .458, with 4 homers in 118 PAs. Ks are elevated (31). I think they may have wanted a bit more power but probably like the OBP in front of JD / Devers / Xander
