For the purposes of this discussion. I’m going to say yes.

Thought it was Toronto?

My bad. I had just been talking to someone about Lester getting shelled last night and I had the Cards in my brain…  :hammer:

Rendon to have season ending hip impingement surgery.
Yikes that sounds dreadful. How hard is it to come back from surgery like that?

Max just pitched 7 strong innings for the Dodgers, allowing just two runs.  The Dodger fans have co-oped Max, and it really hurts.  I wanted Max to retire as a Washington National.  If the Dodgers win the World Series it will white wash 2019.

2019 will remain 2019 —   Going 1-0 every day, win streak to close season; staying close in wildcard until Soto hit; game 4 Zim homer, game 5 homers and slam; near no-nos, home onslaught, closeout, and sweep; train track shots, ump interference response, staying in the fight, comebacks, foul pole clang, glove toss and so forth.

Sorry I just can’t root for the Dodgers. Hoping they finish in wild card spot and lose in the wild card game. With Max giving up several HRs and Trea making a key error. Speaking of Trea when is he coming back?

Saw the last AB of the A's walking off the Padres yesterday. Oakland player hit a ball off the wall, which San Diego OF (Wil Myers) misplayed. First out of the dugout, unmistakable flying hair, beard, and smile: Josh Harrison, of course.

Yan Gomes tied he games with a single in the 9th:

The game winner, with the ex-Marlin Starling Marte scoring and Josh celebrating

Brian Goodwin with a 2-run HR in the 10th inning against the Cubs. His wRC+ is 115.

You beat me to it, Count.  He's bounced around so much he flies under the radar.  Don't know what to make of him, really.

The athletic reports Schwarber’s rehab has hit a snag. No timetable for his return

I was incredulous when the Sox picked him up instead of Bell. They needed a lefty hitting first baseman although an effective switch hitter would be nice. Bell of course is a switch with a lefty strong side. They were making noises about how Schwarber was going to pick up first during his rehab. Nuts. Maybe it would have cost too much to pick up a healthy 1B who is under control for 2022. The kid they sent the Nats was doing well in Salem but is hirt snd may need surgery
Still a good prospect. If they had a choice of Schwarber or Bell for him, I don't understand

Schwarber was a rental, Bell was going to command a much higher price. I don’t think they were interchangeable.

I doubt we wanted to move Bell. Moving Bell requires Zimm to play 1B everyday (he can't) the rest of the year and Bell has hit well enough to make him attractive for 2022.

Noll is terrible. The turd prospects we probably get for Bell don't make it worth playing an uplayable player at 1B the rest of the way and scrambling to find a 1B next year. Bell is good, under team control and not worth moving yet.

woa ... wait a second.  First, folks were saying Bell was likely more expensive than Schwarber due to the extra year, and Schwarber got back a prospect who is in our top 10.  Now you are saying that Bell wouldn't have gotten a decent guy back.

Bottom line for me is I think the BoSox messed up in not trading for Bell.

Schwarber activated. Dh tonight.  Red Sox dfa Marwin Gonzalez.

Gonzalez's only big offensive year came with the trash can drumline in 2017.
