named a stadium after him.

Which is now called American Family Field, which seems much more on-brand for Wisconsin in the 21st century.  The fact that that state decides presidential elections is sorta like giving the receptionist who spends all day on Instagram an outsize role in choosing the CEO.

Having visited Wisconsin several times in the last few years, I can assure you that MillerCoors products are still widely consumed there in the 21st century. It's not my business to tell Wisconsin what to do, I suppose, but it seems almost sacrilegious to me for the Brewers to not play in a stadium named for a beer company, or at least a bratwurst company.

We went to game there in 2008 when CC Sabathia was pitching for the Brewers as a short-term rental, we saw him pitch against the Nationals of all teams. IIRC he shut them down.

My wife asked the beer guy if they sold anything other than Miller products.

Went to a game there in 2017 I think.  Michael A hit a home run and saved the game with a defensive play at the end.  Nice stadium; roof was closed as there was some early rain.

Miller Park was the site of the only foul ball I ever caught. My dad and I went up from Chicago to see a random Astros/Brewers game (back when that was an NL Central matchup) and Jeff Kent hit a ball to me. I detested Jeff Kent as a player prior to that, now I have relaxed a bit on him.

I also went to a game in 2010 with a friend and sat right under Bernie the Brewer's slide. I got splashed with the "beer" that he slides into. My section was full of several little league teams from Brazil, almost all of whom were ethnically Japanese. Brazil has the largest Japanese immigrant community in South America.

Speaking of the Midwest, Brian Goodwin is currently batting cleanup for a first place team. Tony LaRussa does things that not even Dusty Baker would be willing to do.

Wow Adam Eaton just got DFA'ed by the White Sox. And he lost his job to Brian Goodwin.

White Sox have a ton of really good players on the IL...surprised they would eat Spanky's current contract like that though...

I had hoped to see them vs the Cubbies on the Southside in August, but ticket prices aren't cooperating...yet.  I'd need 8 together.  We'll see...

The Chisox have good CF Luis Robert on 60-day DL. They are carrying Billy Hamilton, and now Goodwin. Can't see how that pushes Eaton out of a job.

Meanwhile, MAT is hitting .238 with 8 homers, 31 RBIs, .656 OPS.

Because at this point, both of them are more useful players than Eaton.  Goodwin's no world-beater but he's significantly better than Eaton now on offense (and they both have limited defensive value), plus he hits with the same hand.  And Hamilton plays CF, which Eaton doesn't.

Sure, but the Chisox have one regular outfielder and a pair of fill-ins.

Yep, and Eaton doesn't fill either of those roles. He doesn't look like a major league player anymore.

Ugh. Still, sign him to a minimum deal and send him to Rochester. None of their outfielders look like MLB outfielders. OK, I just looked. Red Wings have Stevenson in CF tonight, so he's one. I'm trying to imagine how Stevenson, the Nats Number 5 OF in 2019 and 2020 looks better than Eaton.

The others are Blake Swihart and Cody Wilson, and neither looks MLB-like.

Eaton hit .226 with bad defense and no power last season.  This year, he's hitting .201 with no power and bad defense. That's not a major league player.  I'm fine sending him to AAA, of course: that's about his level now.

Against the O's at Camden Yards, Brian Goodwin is hitting in the cleanup spot and he is 4-for-5 with 3 RBI and a HR.

Hitting like a Nats number 1 draft choice, finally.

Eaton clears waivers and has been released by the White Sox. Someone will pick him up for the $250k or so that it will cost to sign him.

9 games in, he has an OPS of .536.  .250 with zero walks and one extra base hit.
