Charlie and Dave report that former 3B coach Tim Tolman has passed away. RIP.

Sad to hear

Cubs call up Jose Lobaton, first major league appearance since 2018. He was hitting .179 in Triple-A

I thought seeing Lobaton on MLBTR was a blast from the past, but now I see that San Diego has signed Joe Beimel. Now THAT is a blast from the past.

Brian Goodwin with a HR, double,  snd 5 RBI yesterday for the CWS. Blue911 I think basically said his problem is he's a jerk, but I don't think he's played his way off any team.

Goodwin has done this his whole career. He comes out hot, then slowly comes down to Earth.

I don’t think he’s a jerk but it’s the best reason I can think of as to why he gets dumped so often.

He's the type of guy who might thrive in a platoon with a lefty hitter a bit better than Stevenson.

Sorry for putting words in your mouth.  But it beats putting Chicago deep dish tomato pie in your mouth.

Goodwin was truly terrible for the Pirates, he did play his way off that team. He is on the White Sox because a gazillion people got injured ahead of him, including Billy Hamilton.

I'll always remember Goodwin alongside Wilmer Difo as guys that Dusty Baker managed to get great performances out of while more notable Nationals were on the DL.

Goodwin's a lefty hitter.  He needs a decent righty hitter.

You are right.  Damn it, my memory is bad.  When he was here, I probably posted about how he and MAT would be an ideal

Look a Goodwin’s career splits
about as neutral as you can get. But, if there's a  rghty who crushes lefties, then you platoon them

Did they play a "Thank You Difo" video before the Pirates series?

they may have shown a highlight film.  It would have been very short.

He'd have been worth a polite clap.

But I'm the type of guy who sees a Tony Tarasco type and thinks, "He was a National!"

I have more memories about obscure Nationals players and coaches than they themselves probably do.

Peacock to the Indians

As a free agent. I checked Baseball Reference because we saw Peacock pitch, and win, his first game. Peacock has been in the majors since 2011, although he pitched in the minors in 2012; poor guy only has about 5 years service time.
