Is this 3 blown saves for Hand in a row now?

The Nationals are where relievers come to die. Hand will go play somewhere else next year and be an All Star.

He has an ERA of 2.19. Bullpen has an ERA of 3.59 as a whole. This is the best pen we've had in 5 years. If we had this pen in 2019, we'd have won 100 freaking games.

Didn’t we have another FA high priced reliever who sucked like Hand? It was just for a year and I don’t think it was Soriano

Literally every reliever we sign sucks. And the guys we let go become studs.

Cool, they can start benching everyone who has three bad outings in a row.

Stop it.  He has BLOWN (save) up the season this week.  Rewind to the 9th inning last Saturday in Yankee Stadium and this season looked much different.  We went from being being .5 GB to 5.5 GB, once he got to work.

Im sure it has nothing to do with the offense scoring two lousy runs in three games in a row

Also, I dont know what youre talking about. The Nats were 2.5 games back after being swept by the  Braves

Hudson says high. Kyle Finnegan and Sam Clay hadn't even pitched in the majors.

TBH, last night, Hand had his fastball back. In the 9th he was hitting 94 consistently.  Herrera hit a hanging slurve, which was a bad pitch. You probably need to talk to one of the righties (Hudson, Harris, Finnegan) about getting some save chances to  take a little pressure off Hand, but I'm in the bad stretch rather than worthless / mistake to acquire camp.

The Yankees are just a statistical anomaly. They always do well. Last night was the first home run Hand has given up all season

Harper had a good at bat against Hand in the 10th.  Can’t really blame him for that.

Technically, only 2. Nats didn't have the lead when he came into the game on Sunday.

Please be specific and name one high priced FA that was not worth the money he was paid. I cannot recall.

I don't care about a solo HR if we are leading by two. I look for a majority of clean innings for a RP especially a high priced closer.

If Hand closes those three games out we look pretty good right now but instead the season is over. Our lineup is so, so terrible that blowing any games is a disaster. We have an absolutely razor-thin margin and it's already looking bad.

Just a terrible turn of events.

What is this with "benching" Hand? He's not a third-baseman. He's a relief pitcher. He is pitching badly right now. He is unreliable. It does not matter that he was good in 2019 or 2012. Let him recover by pitching in other spots -- just not the ninth inning with a one-run lead.

The Nats signed Trevor Rosenthal for $7 million. In 2019, he went several games before he got an out. Is Rosenthal that guy?

Rosenthal as mentioned.

Soriano was *good* for us, but he was paid to be dominant AND he cost us a draft pick

Yes, but he actually blew 2 save opportunities on Saturday (9th and 10th innings), although in Slate's precious statistical salad it only counts as 1 BS.

It's not Slateman's salad; it is MLB's scoring rules. Hand was the pitcher of record when the Nats took the lead in the top of the 10th, so it was not a save opportunity. Arguably, he was in line for the win, although I believe the official scorer has the discretion to not award a win to a reliever who is only in line for it because of his own poor performance.

Totally forgot about Rosenthal and he was not the guy but a great example. Thanks

Thanks. I'll stick with Rosenthal but as I mentioned I thought there was someone else.

Thats stupid. The majority of relievers dont have clean innings
