Threw a perfect inning with 2Ks. We have a new closer option :)

Availan is the epitome of trash.   Get him off the roster ASAP
It will be interesting to see if they send Clay down instead of releasing him when Lester or Harris return.

Lester is, so the q will be DFA Avilan, one of Fedde / Voth, or send down Clay.  Avilan is pitching like there's a reason he was available at the start of spring for a non-roster invite.

Jon Lester is throwing a simulated game today in Fredericksburg. Will Harris threw a 20-pitch bullpen session.

nice that they saved everyone but Huddy and Hand.  Needed Max to go 7 tonight.

McGowin is up, which will help.

I was under the weather last night, but I have to say C&D did a great job on radio in the later innings.  Their incredulity at Shildt's human checkers was quite amusing.

Great win against the Best Self-Fans in Baseball, Bob Carpenter, and the gremlins haunting Corbin and Bell.   Next up, Rainey?
Rainey sounds like today's forecast.  Yes, he's been a bit off this year.  right now, I'm a little uncomfortable  in the 6th and 7th, with Finnegan a bit shaky too, Suero out, and Clay looking mostly good but still proving it.

Am I the only one who wants to see more out of Voth from the pen? 97 mph

thing is, his curve was good today too.  2 pitches are plenty one time through the order.  Stammen jr?

For this season, they probably need to keep him able to make starts or go 4+ innings. Its a small sample size, but he is significantly better as a reliever

Ideally, the rotation gets healthy, with Ross or Fedde joining him the bullpen, so he can be used a bit more in a multi inning role.

If he can do more of that?  Definitely.  (Not just the speed, but the way he located pitches, too.)

Davey said after the game that they've told Voth that he's really a 1 or 1+ inning guy this year and not so much rotation depth.

Voth needs to be in the rotation.   Hardest thrower on the team.   Every single pitcher we have lost velocity these past two seasons.   Voth is going harder

Oh cmon. It’s because he knows he is only pitching for an inning or so.  A starter cannot be giving max effort.

It is pretty common for a pitcher to add a couple of MPH  to his fastball when he's converted from a reliever to a starter.  Doesn't mean he keeps it going back to being a starter.

Get Will Harris back tonight.

Nats bullpen is coming into tonight with a 3.57 ERA. If Harris can be as good as last year, we have the makings of an excellent bullpen
