Let's hope deGrom doesn't like pitching in freezing cold, windy conditions.

Bring a wool mask.

I remember the opener in 2008 being really cold.  And the game five collapse against the Cards. So mixed results. All games should be in Florida and Arizona until May.

Or, MLB should long ago have mandated stadiums be built with retractable roofs. Thinking of the fans that drive up from, say, Richmond or Norfolk only to find the game postponed. Also, MLB is so concerned with "pace of play." How about the interminable/multiple rain delays that would be addressed by having retractable roofs.

thing about those games is the place was packed so there were others blocking some of the wind.

As someone who dined outside this winter, just remember layers.  Thermal base, wool turtle neck, sweatshirt, winter coat.  Wool hat, good gloves.  Face mask keeps the wind off the nose and lips if you wear it properly.

The game could go four hours (it's ESPN).  27 is the low for the day, so I suppose it could be approaching 27 by the end of the game.

wunderground says 22 MPH winds at game time, dropping to 20 as the game goes on. I think the worst of the wind is north of DC.  Here in Western Prince William it's breezy but nothing significant.

A northwest wind is in from LF, maybe left to right?  I would also think the half street effect would be on full display.

FP and Bob claim the new construction on half street creates a jet stream down the street that blows some balls back around the bullpen and the red porch area

There's some truly heinous building design down there.  The SS Half Street looks like a beached Carnival cruise ship.

One of the oak trees in front of my house just lost a large branch, like 4"-5" diameter.  This game should be interesting.
