May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort. I never got the chance to meet him, but I remember his contributions on here.

This hits different. I wish he could have made one more game.

I hope the grass smells sweet and the bats crack loud on the other side.

Save me a seat at the big Red Loft in the sky.

I don’t stop by too often these days, just never in front of a computer during bats games, but very saddened to learn this, was the eternal optimist on this forum. Always gave me some good banter with Aussie references. Rip

Very sad news indeed. In BIL's honor I'm changing my avatar back to what it once was...

I'm sorry to read this. While we certainly did not see eye to eye on ANYTHING baseball related, he was a loyal Nats fan and a very knowledgeable poster. freak cancer.

Sorry to hear the news.  I see he last checked in here around the middle of July.

A fun presence here with more than a little edge to his posts.

As an aside, my plan is to start a new thread when we hear of similar bad news, then after a month or so merge these threads into one "Sad News" thread.  I'll do the same with Mathguy's thread.

If this does not make sense to you, then PM me.

Oh man. That’s really sad. I’m glad he was able to enjoy some of his retirement down at the beach.

broke this into its own thread.  I will sticky it eventually if it gets too low on the 1st page, then will merge it into one larger "
Sad News" thread where similar threads can easily be found by folks visiting after some time.  I may edit the 1st post in the sad news thread to indicate replies where each late member's passing is noted.

looking back at his posts around 1/6/21, in typical DCFan style, around 2:45 PM, he posted in the "In this thread you vent" thread:

Looks like a lot of venting going on up there.

:lmao:

HE had served as a Capitol police officer, so his other two posts about 1/6 were about Brian Sicknick:

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/capitol-police-officer-dies-wednesday-seige

"At approximately 9:30 p.m. this evening (January 7, 2021), United States Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick passed away due to injuries sustained while on-duty," Capitol Police said.

Didn't he attend one of the WNFF kumbayas a while back?

I think so, before he moved to NC. VaRK is Mr. Kumbaya, although I am now keeper of the WNFF banner that must be taken down per order of security each year.

Yes, he joined us in a loft session or two.  Less edgy in person, easy to hang out with.

Very sad news.  Just who is going to ask us if we are dense now?  We didn't always see eye to eye but I've got a lot of fond DCFan memories.  I'll wager a lot of people here are richer for having known him.
