Playing the judges is part of boxing.  Call it tactics.  Leonard did it better than his peers.  He admits this when he discusses some of his big fights.  I'm not going to say that he wasn't a great fighter for doing this.

I expected my comment on Hagler / Leonard to have drawn more flack here.
I think it's debatable who won the fight.  As I recall experts saw it both ways.  And Leonard landed a much higher percentage of his punches.

Mary Wilson of the Supremes, 76: https://variety.com/2021/music/news/mary-wilson-dead-supremes-singer-original-member-1234903764/

That leaves only Diana Ross from the original line-up (Florence Ballard died in 1976).

The musical heroes of my childhood are dropping like flies....

The WaPo getting some heat about their obit.
Of course if he was not an NFL coach there would be no news on his death at all. Comes with the territory I guess. It is basically the first thing fans think of when his name is mentioned.  When did people become such snowflakes.

I thought that he was older...judging from how he looked in his cameo in that Milos Forman movie a quarter century ago.

well, the fellow was shot and I think a double amputee, and not exactly a clean liver before that.

I know he was paralyzed as a result of the shooting. Not sure of the amputee situation. But all in all he lived a very long life all things considered.

Not "movie star or historical figure" famous, but I thought this was noteworthy:

Brayden Smith, recent 5-time Jeopardy winner and last champion of Trebek's tenure, passed away at the age of 24 per Jeopardy Twitter :(  Surgical complications, apparently (reasons undisclosed)

I saw that last week, that was really sad.

Thumper rule. If you can’t say something nice don’t say nothing at all.
