Not surprising at 93 but they just released him from the hospital a couple days ago.

With my parents having retired to Daytona we used to go there when my daughter was in school during spring vacation. The Gods were smiling on me when the Nats came into existence in 2005 because Easter was early that year and spring training was still going on when we got there. So we saw a game in Viera (Mets) and in Vero Beach against the Dodgers. Before the Dodgers game started Lasorda came onto the field and was moving around behind home plate. He would position himself and pose for pictures, move 10 feet or so, stop pose for more pictures, move another 10 feet, pose until he navigated his way behind home plate allowing as many people as possible to snap his picture.

The Chief and I go way back to the beginning. When you've been in the WNFF foxholes as long as he and I have and seen the highs and lows of Nats baseball and lost some buddies along the way, well we've developed a bond between us forged in the fires of the 2009 and 2010 seasons.  (this is bringing a tear to my eye).  :w: :hysterical:  :w:

2010 wasn't as bad as 2008.  2008 and 2009 got us Stras and Harper.  2010 got us Rendon.

you wonder what they will play at his funeral?  Just one organ or like a few violins, some horns, all kinds of percussion and hand claps, a bass, several guitars, a soloist with overdubs, a 6 backup singers?  I'm guessing they play for less than 3 minutes.

He will be buried by a wall. Of sound.
