Alex Smith has retired.
well, he proved he could come back, so it is his call, not his leg.

Kansas City is trading its first-round pick Thursday night, along with three other picks in the 2021 and 2022 drafts, to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for Pro Bowl OT Orlando Brown and one pick in the 2021 draft and another in 2022, per sources.”

Schefter says Rodgers wants out of Green Bay, there was an earlier report that the 49rs are prepared to do a Ricky Williams-like trade for him that would include the 49rs' #3 overall pick, Jimmy Garoppolo, and several other players but the Packers declined the offer.

I can't see trading both the  #3 and Jimmy G, plus.  The #3 is the reason Jimmy G would be available.   While Rodgers blows away JG, he's not clearly a QB beyond the next 3 years, and I would not think that SF would be in a position to draft a potential 6-15 year QB again at that time.  You keep JG around for the last year of his contract, then move onto the guy you pick at #3, I think.

If Aaron Rodgers is available, you simply cannot allow yourself to be outbid. It would be irresponsible. You throw in whatever it takes to make the deal happen. Basically if there is a price, you pay it. No questions asked.

It would be an all in move. Tbh, you almost can't have more than a 3 year horizon anyways in NFL

Because we can see he makes the super bowl every year no matter the team around him?

The list of guys traded at the end of their careers who win super bowls is very short.

I never get why the first pick isn't ready to go as soon as the draft starts

not clear, but they supposedly talked to everyone except miami and nyj above them re what it takes to move up. Lance, maybe fields, would be the top  qbs they'd want. Or, they sit back and grab somebody in the 3rd like Florida's qb

If it’s not jones I don’t think they’re getting one of the top ones. Also when has bull ever tipped his hand by calling a buncha teams trying to move? I think jones is going to SF and we’re getting some scrub in the 6th round again ;)

Has there been a 1,2,3 of qbs other than Plunkett, Archie Manning, and Pastorini?
