Freaking raiders. I guess they wanted the highest possible seed

I listened to replays of some of the post game interviews.  The Raiders coach said they had discussed whether just to take the tie during the final drive, which is part of why they were letting the clock run while handing off, but when the Chargers called time out with 20 or so seconds left, they went with the run again and the gain was enough to put them in field goal range (around 48 yards).  The Chargers coach explained the time out by saying he wanted to get his run stopping defense in instead of the pass defense personnel he had been playing in the final drive.  Said something to the effect of "we called for our best defense but they just beat us."

I can see strategically the right move for the Raiders being to make sure they were the last team to hold the ball.  They are in either way.  But once they got to field goal range, the fair sporting play is to try to kick like you would in a normal game and not play favorites between the LAC and Pitt. It did run the risk of a block & return, which I suppose is more likely than a fumbled kneel down and return.

Zimmer fired.
Flores fires.
Nagy fired.

I think Judge will be gone too although they claim they will stay with him. He has lost the team and the fan base the past couple of weeks.

Blame the Chargers coach.

his argument was that he wanted to get his run defense on the field. The Raiders were going to run on 3rd and 4. I assume even without the timeout, they would have gone for the FG after getting the 1st down. I assume they figured they'd rather play Cincinnati than KC in the first round.

Like I said, the prisoner's dilemma almost always ends with one turning on the other.

Wow, I thought the Dolphins' late season run would have saved Flores.  Definitely didn't see him going before Fangio.

I think Flores did all that he could with Tua. It's hard to win with a bad QB that you're expected to develop

imagine what Waddle would do with a consistently average QB.

Has that ever worked? A fired head coach going directly to another head coaching job, bypassing being a coordinator again, and being successful? The only two people I can think of that were fired and immediately hired again as head coaches were Rex Ryan and Eric Mangini, and both bombed in their second efforts.

So he took a year off in between, but Coughlin going from the Jagoffs to the Giants was a pretty successful head coach to head coach move.

Well damn - neither the first nor last time Google has failed me.

The Brian Flores news shocked me.

I think he was really solid. If you asked me whether I'd like him or Ron Rivera, it would be tough for me not to say Flores.

I have a feeling Bill Belichick is checking out whether Flores was switched at birth with Steve Belichick so he can replace his designated heir.
