the idea that both ATL and NYM were going to underperform long enough for the Nats not to address issues was folly
They did though. The Nats simply failed to address the issues

So Ian Anderson has the start tonight for the Barves. What does he have for walk up music?

Aqualung?

just put it on the jukebox .

Somehow, sitting on a park bench, eyeing little girls with bad intent would be one of those "wtf was that" moments at the ballpark.  I feel the Village People laugh their assaes off every time parents and kids dance to YMCA. Certainly :PUTIN!: does.

If Rizzo had given the Cubs what they wanted for Bryant, we'd be leading this division.

It'd be even worse if they'd played that today for Chase De Jong.

How are the Mets doing what they are doing?  Other than deGrom being from another planet and Walker pitching well, what do they have?  Offensively, they have nobody having a year worth a damn.

Lucchesi has a UCL tear
I heard on their broadcast that Gsielman will also be out for a while.  They got McNeil back today though.

Maybe but Castro war is .1, Bryant 1.8. So Bryant is expected to provide 1.7 more wins. The Nats are 5 out.

WAR =/= actual wins. Its simply an attempt to quantify the impact a player has in a season. Cubs players have a total of 12 WAR this season, but they have way more than 12 wins.

Nats cleanup hitters are OPSing .769 and have posted a wRC+ of 109 (13th in baseball). Bryant has an OPS of .875 and a wRC+. Thats a huge difference. Especially on a team that is amongst the worst in scoring, but is pitching well. Nats have lost 9 games by two runs or less. So yeah, having a crushing bat would mean a huge difference.
