My brother lives in New Orleans. Yesterday he e-mailed us to say he’s in Shreveport. Wise move.

Ida up to 150mph max sustained winds and could reach cat-5 strength before landfall. The area it is heading into is the petrochemical hub of the region. This is devastating.
what to watch for is rain collapsing storage tank roofs.

I saw an inch of rain or so on Wednesday. Still a depression.

This sucker is STILL at Cat-2.  There are reports of levees failing in St. Charles parish amid desperate calls for help. They were under a mandatory evacuation orders as of Friday.

hey Skippy - I saw you posted at about 1:30 PM today, so I'm guessing Pensacola wasn't hit too bad.  Looks like you are on the fringe of the circulation of Ida.

In and out of Tornado Warnings this afternoon. A few confirmed touch downs. It's just raining in sheets out there. We are back to just Tornado watch now, but the flooding is coming next. South East PA has been hit hard over the past month, and this is the icing on the cake.

It was an interesting 7+ hour drive back from DuBois, PA to the Fashionable West End of Henrico County, VA today.

We saw at least 7 accidents...2 pretty major multi-vehicle get togethers, and another with a single car that somehow landed on it's roof in the middle of a 2 lane portion of I-80.

JCA said a prayer for us last night, so I knew we'd make it home OK...  ;)

Incredible scenes in NY/NJ. Yankee stadium’s field is completely underwater.

Did everyone here make it alright? We were saved from any damages, but boy did the Philly metro area get beat up hard. So did NJ, and my BiL's in laws have now had their suburban home flooded enough that flood insurance is paying for them to raise their home 10 feet. Kicker is they can't live there until the construction completes, and if they try to decline increasing the height, they are dropped and get zilch for recovery.
