cwg is good for winter storms.  they pick up some of the weird details about the difference between the tidal area and out west of the beltway.  They've made the observation that you do not get snow accumulations around DCA and across the river unless the air starts below 32 degrees.  If you expect the air to cool off during a storm, then the accumulations stay down.

I went out this morning around 10:30 AM. It was snowing heavily and we had about 2-3" on the ground, almost entirely on grassy areas.  Roads were very slushy.  Now, with the sun out, there's barely anything left.  One of my neighbors was even shoveling.

They might want to locate somewhere off of Lake Erie and live it up.  As this multi-jurisdictional area can be dreadful at handling it, I don’t see reduced forecasts as a bad thing.

First wave goes to our north, second wave to our south.  Coating to 2" for most of the DC area, mixing with ice/rain and mostly accumulating on grass.

To add insult to injury, NWS saying up to .25” of ice Saturday into Sunday.

at this point, the ice storm is going to mostly be centered around south/central Virginia, Fredricksburg to Richmond area.  So that's good for us, not so good for Richmond.  Up to .25 of ice for the purple areas below

the WXrisk guy, who has been awful this winter, says the threat of the ice storm for south/central VA is overblown. Meanwhile the NWS is now saying up to a half inch of ice will make travel "virtually impossible"

We had so much freaking rain this weekend I thought about buying a boat. So a sunny day going into the 60's is awesome. Highs will be going back into the 40's and 50's starting tomorrow. Got to start planning a West Palm trip.

much ado about nothing. We got some ice on Saturday but it wasn't a big deal.  The next storm is supposed to roll through on Thursday with another mix of snow / sleet and freezing rain
