Got to see the 2006 Father's Day Walk-off, one of the first games my kids remember attending.

Last night we took my son's GF to her first-ever game, and she got to see Zimmerman's 9th inning blast.

Another day, another memory.

He had another walk-off a few weeks after that Yankees game, 04 July vs the Fish.  We were right behind home plate for that one, next to a girl who either was or aspired to be Josh Willingham's date for the night judging from all of her screaming (he was still a Marlin at the time).

I was at that game. I had tickets for a game in late June, having promised that if Washington ever got a team again, I would be there in the first season. Had a heart attack on Father's Day, 2005, so we drove down for that game in 2006. Wore my 1959 - '60 replica jersey, autographed by Harmon Killebrew. Went nuts when the next young 3B for a Nats team won the game with that home run. Harmon must have been there, at least in spirit.

The game the day before that one was good too...big comeback in the late innings and taking a win from mighty Mo.  Those first couple of years were a lot of fun.

So JAWS has Zimmerman 39th among 3rd basemen, they don't list him in the 1st base rankings. He's just behind Deacon White (38th) who made the HOF. Everyone ranked 13th or higher, except for Greg Nettles, made the hall.  His JAWS score, if transferred to the 1st base list, puts him just ahead of Freddie Freeman in 46th place.  There too, 13th and higher have all made the Hall except for Palmeiro, Cabrera, and Pujols.

Last night's homer tied Zimmerman with Ted Kluszewski for 183rd all-time, he's two behind Paul O'Neill for 182nd.  If he manages to hit another 10 this year, he'll move into 164th place.

I still remember after the Saturday game one of the Yankees fans getting upset and yelling “how many rings do you have?”   To fans of a new team. Hilarious.

Apparently Spike Lee was at one of those games and was a total dick to Nats fans afterwards  :hysterical:

The Zim walkoff, the one I saw, was in the 9th inning, Sunday, June 18. Yankees leading 2 - 1, Chien Ming Wang pitching. Guillen led off the inning by grounding out. Then Marlon Anderson pinch-hit for the Nats pitcher, Gary Majewski. Anderson got a base-hit, and then...

I think he should retire after this season. He will always be remembered fondly by the fans and his numerous contributions to the Nationals and the community.

I doubt he has a choice. He’s not going to get another chance if this is his production the rest of the way

Hopefully this gets him going, we know how streaky he can be. Now tied with Paul O'Neil for 182nd all-time.

Now tied for 177th all-time in home runs with a bunch of guys including Eric Davis, Adam Jones, Brian McCann, and Ryne Sandberg.  If he can get two more this year he'll tie Will Clark and Eric Karros for 175th.

I'll be there Sunday with my Zimmerman jersey, hoping it is his last game.

It's time.

tbh, we are not going to find a better, cheap righty bench bat capable of playing a bit of 1st.

Uhhh, I think we could. There are a bunch of guys out there each year who got that exact model.

Even if you don’t find a better bat against lefties you can find someone who can also play the OF and is younger. Team is rebuilding.
