They really ought to swap Olympics with Beijing - Japan can host the Winter Olympics as scheduled in Feb 2022 (way better ski runs and snow cover anyways, not to mention air quality) and then send the summer games to China in July when the winter smog is gone.
Plus, having the winter games in China during lunar new year does not seem like a good idea.
I'm going to guess it will be a long time before China gets another Olympics given how they handled COVID.
