To mark the end of the season, for the Nats and their (now long suffering) fans - this may become our theme song for the next season or two... ;)

He drinks a Whiskey drink, he drinks a Vodka drink
He drinks a Lager drink, he drinks a Cider drink

With the teams we're stuck with in this area, I plan on doing this...many many times.

There was a joke once on How I Met Your Mother about how the '80s didn't come to Canada until the '90s. Judging by this video, it reached Victoria BC in the mid-2010s. This seems like it would fit right in on a late-80s episode of Headbangers Ball.

Saw .38 Special at the Beacon Theater in Hopewell last night.  Nice recently renovated theater dating back to 1928 with a seating capacity of 669.

There were likely 500 of us there last night.  Not sure how they kept such energy with such a small crowd, but they rocked it...

They have an impressive catalog of their own and added several well done covers:

Setlist

Rockin' Into the Night

Rough Housin'

Wild Eyed Southern Boys

Medley:  Back to Paradise / The Sound of Your Voice / Somebody Like You / Honky Tonk Dancer / Teacher Teacher / You Keep Runnin' Away

Second Chance

Like No Other Night

Feelin' Stronger Every Day
(Chicago cover)

Ride the Storm
(Don Barnes song)

Guitar Solo Jerry Riggs

If I'd Been the One

Fantasy Girl

Good Times
(The Easybeats cover)

Trooper With an Attitude/Drum Solo

Caught Up in You

Encore:

Chain Lightning

Hold On Loosely

Travelin' Band
(CCR Cover)

Don Barnes is the only remaining original member, but it's his voice on most of their hits that carries the day...

Yeah, Johnny has been the lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd for a while now. If you've never hear Brickhouse Road, it's a great song (and terribly depressing as it's a tribute from Johnny to Ronnie).

I saw LS in 2019 at a corporate gig in California. There were maybe 2,000 people in a big parking lot and I was able to get up to the stage. They are pretty much a cover band now as Gary Rossington is the only one left from the glory days, though Ricky Medlocke has been with them for a long time.

They played Freebird as the second encore / final song of course. After Johnny sung the first verse, he grabbed what appeared to be Ronnie's hat from the drum riser and put it on a microphone stand at the edge of the stage. He then waved to the crowd and walked off. Behind him they displayed the names of all the members of the band who had died.

The second verse was a video of Ronnie, with his vocals being accompanied by the live band. It was incredibly emotional and something I'll never forget. I'd see them again in a heartbeat.

I found a crappy YouTube clip from 2019 of another performance in which they did the sam thing:

Yeah...like you're a spring chicken...

Never thought I'd see 50...nearly didn't see 60 for that matter...and yet 70 is just around the corner.

BTW...saw Loverboy 7 or 8 years ago...they opened for Pat Benatar and Journey.  Other than being old and fat, they were terrific...

 :hysterical:

I don’t remember the 70s so I just subtract ten years from my age.

yes, I get my Donnies and Johnnies mixed up.

FLA is another decent song of the reconstituted band.

By the way, is the non-Greg part of the Allmans playing together?  Is it just Government Mule?  I sort of think that of all the bands, they had the most successful reconstitution.

Oh, and speaking of Government Mule, I see they have an album coming out:

Government Mule's cover of Simple Man from the "One More For the Fans" Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute concert is worth checking out as is Cheap Trick's cover of "Gimmie Back My Bullets" from the same show.

tribe time was that troll of an Indians fan who joined about 2014 or so, was around for about 2 years, and loved Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Final straw was when he posted about the Nats playing at Cleveland and how "we" were taunting one of the Nats players during the game.
