Last weekend Wegmans had some nice grouper, so I made this. Liked it so much we're having it again tonight when my mom comes over. The lime flavor reminded me a lot of meals on the beach in Mexico. Grouper is hideously expensive; I bought it last week because we had a much shorter grocery list than usual. This week, well, when Mom comes over I’m inclined to splurge a bit more.

I miss Generous George's, which called itself a "Positive Pizza and Pasta Place."  The original location there on Duke Street really did have a positive and fun vibe, multicolored and decorated with old kids' toys.  Had decent food and folks seemed to really enjoy it.  When it closed, the location was purchased by a member of the Yates family, which owns and operates various garage / gas stations and at least one other restaurant in the area.  Looks to have been renovated and seemingly ready to open for years but it hasn't happened yet.

I think I once killed a fettuncine alfredo with chicken there.  I don't think I needed to eat for 4 days after that.  Made the creme brulee french toast at Cheesecake Factory look like a diet plate.

there's actually going to be 2 - one in the northwest area of the capital beltway and this one, which is reasonably near me.

Was it served on a pizza crust like a lot of their pasta dishes were?  I didn't get pasta there often.  Preferred the Georgie Combo, their version of a supreme pizza.  Very filling, to say the least.

I was in the Tampa area last week and had grouper about half a dozen times, I've never had good grouper outside of that area of FL.

Tonight's dinner. Pretty good; next time we want to figure out a way to get the potatoes to crisp up a bit more, and Ms1995hoo thinks we should reduce the amount of oil and butter. We used bone-in skin-on chicken thighs instead of whole chicken legs (mainly because that’s what the store had), and we didn’t have slab bacon so I bought a pound of thick-cut bacon, stacked it, and put it in the freezer for half an hour before we cut it up.

Good stuff. The sourdough bread, in particular, had a nice flavor that reminded me of Thanksgiving stuffing, surely due to the rendered chicken fat soaking into the bread cubes. (Also like Thanksgiving, I smell dinner in my shirt.)

Old Hechinger Plaza for some of the longtimers

Not sure if that was the first one in the area but for us it was our go-to.  Along with Crown Books, a local retail chain that spawned even bigger, better competitors.

First store was in southwest DC.

The shopping center where Brusters Ice Cream is, on the way to Professional Drive was a Hechinger.

Know that little strip center very well!  Finished my career in an office building just up the hill on Professional.

Captain White's Seafood floated their barge away from the Wharf, say they'll reopen at another location.

Nothing like a rectangularish brick of composite meat soaked in BBQ sauce, eh? Seriously - there's thankfully not a lot like those nasty things.

I believe Andrew Zimmer wouldn’t eat one of those.

Apparently there is a "McRib locator" app...wonder if the FBI knows about this?

I assume it was created by statin vendors.
