From fangraphs:

Cruz is the consensus best defensive player in the 2020 amateur class, a flashy and acrobatic shortstop defender. He is not very physical and needs to get much stronger in order to be a viable offensive player, and there's no consensus as to whether he will. His measurables indicate projection, but he is slightly built. A good and reasonable outcome here is a Freddy Galvis or Nick Allen type of player.

Did a little more searching and he's just 16. Lots of development left for him. Will be interesting to follow him through the system and see how his game grows with professional training.

From fangraphs:https://youtu.be/SlvxEVoIAAc

I know the square root of nothing about him, but "too skinny" at 16 isn't bad.  It's the 16 year olds getting a ton of money who already look like they're 25 that I worry about.  They either are 25 or when they get there they need a forklift to get to first.

Some of what appear to be the more recent clips in that montage show him with a little more mass in his arms.  If Alfonso Soriano can hit 40 homers, then this dude can get to the strength for an MLB hit tool.  Whether he actually hits is another thing, of course, but it's stupid to say a 16 year old is too skinny to project as more than Freddy Galvis - who, last time I checked, isn't exactly svelte.

The Post article.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/01/15/armando-cruz-signing-washington-nationals/

Quote
Cruz’s bonus is the highest Washington has given to an international prospect. Yes, that means he signed for more money than Juan Soto, Victor Robles and Luis García. That’s a product of a more competitive market and the club’s excitement for Cruz, who was ranked fifth overall in MLB.com’s international rankings. He is listed at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds and is a highly skilled infielder. The hope is that, down the line, his right-handed bat catches up to his defense.

6'5 235 18 yo with a high 90s fastball.  I guess the WFT could use him if he doesn't pan out.

Between these two guys and the 11 pick this year we have a great chance to really rebuild the farm on the fly.

I can dig it. Probably comparable to what we payed cruz, if not more

He's so young and raw, its difficult to really get excited. He can touch 96, but can he sustain it? Can he develop a change up? Will he stay healthy?
