Draft bats. Preferably college bats who may have a shot in 2023 to be contributors.

Supposedly they are all in on one of two college pitchers. I would take the college bat as you say.

Its the MLB Draft. You take BPA.

If Kumar Rocker or Jack Lieter fall all the way to 11 for anything other than a career ending injury, I'll rape and pillage all the way to DC to make Rizzo take him

The Nats system has no position players. Kieboom is a fantasy. Garcia is a couple years from being tried out in the majors...he has trouble fielding. Of all the rest, the best minor league position player might be Gerardo Parra!

Antuna in Wilmington has potential.

It’s gotta be position player barring rocker, Lester, or jobe being available

I get that he's only 21 (although he's a fairly old 21), but he's hitting .110 in High-A and he's not likely to stick at SS.  Even if you're willing to ignore the 0-27 he started with, he's still at .151.

If the organization hadn't been pumping him openly for a while, they'd have dropped him a level by now.

So what do you do if you have a pitcher and batter ranked equally? They usually rank these guys on groupings because it is not easy to pick out and evaluate small differences.

You really cannot compare pitchers and batters.  Just like comparing QBs and other positions in the football draft. Basketball a bit easier to really come up with a beat player available.

And yet, football teams make those evaluations every year . . .

And every mock draft is different. And the teams all rate players differently.  And some draft for need.  And some take who they thing is best.  Let’s stop pretending it’s an exact science. No one knows if Leiter will be better than Rocker for instance.

I think it’s crazy that Rocker and Leiter are sliding out of the top 3.

That Fangraphs article Slateman posted said Rocker is trying to set his price so that only Boston will pay him because he wants to go there.  They still have him at 4th.

Both Rocker and Leiter threw dominant starts this week so that probably bumps them up again.

Not a great start for Rocker tonight, 5.2 IP, 5 hits, 5 runs, 3 earned, 7ks, no walks.

most of the damage was in the first, then in the 6th, it was an hbp and some Dr Strangelove episodes from his fielders that punished him

That was Leiter.

He'll probably slide down reactionary draft boards, even the good ones. I'm not buying it, I think they fly off come draft day.

"There is no such thing as a pitching prospect". I remember reading that someplace.

Draft a batter.

Rocker plowed through the decimated NC State lineup yesterday.  And now NC State has to forfeit the rematch for COVIS issues.  Really tough break for them.  Vandy to the Finals where we will get to see Leiter and Rocker again (it's best two of three).

Chance to watch Rocker pitch tonight in the Finale. Gives up a hit to the first batter.

Kumar Rocker is dropping in mock drafts. He definitely had some arm fatigue. Really dont think you can put as much stock in this season, particularly for pitching. Still, that drop in velo is disconcerting. I dont see him getting past KC though. A lot of mocks have Jobe going to the Tigers and I would be really surprised if they let Rocker slip past him. Then again, Im a lot higher on the Tigers than most. Legit, they're a good free agent signing/trade away from being competitive in that division.

Lots of mock drafts have Sam Bachman going to the Nats. Size is a concern, but at worst, he'd be a shutdown closer with a hard sinker and nasty slider.
