Caps are too old for Götterdämmerung.  Needed to put one in the last 6 minutes (and almost did, twice)

These freaking goalies need to stay in the crease.  Holtby always freaked this up, Sammy has been bad, and V used to be good about this but has fallen into this trap...

Seriously, did these jamokes not watch the 2001 Stanley Cup Finals?  They should at least be reminded about how Roy almost blew the series by doing that one too many times.

The fundamental play Samsonov makes there is to throw it in the far corner with an opponent coming down at you. Schultz certainly expected him to do that. Just a ridiculously stupid play after a great game.

It might happen but I have a hard time seeing how the Caps come back from two straight games of blowing a third period lead and losing in OT. The Bruins seem able to turn it on and dominate the latter portions of games.

The Caps used to always lose in the second round. After the Cup now they lose in the first round. Price we had to put I suppose.

TBH, there's no real difference between the quality of these teams.  They split the regular season, they have an absurd streak of one goal games in the playoffs, they have these veterans who've played years against each other.  I think it'd be fluky if one team won 4 in a row when they are that even. Caps win Friday and all the first 4 games will have done is make it a 2 out of 3 with Caps home ice.

Also, I may be an idiot, and I love the guy, but Tuuka has looked vulnerable and wooden in stretches (awesome in others). The pick ups of Reilly and Hall were / turned out huge.

Hall is the Khalil Greene of the NHL.  He should be playing golf in lake effect snow right now.

On the flip side, the Caps have been just a few minutes away from being up 3-0 in the series. These games are always close so coming back is not exceedingly difficult.

How many times did the puck go off the pipes in the last few minutes last night??  At least two or three.

Twice.

Samsonov looked fine until that blunder, which was painful because we could see it almost like it was in slow motion. Kuzy played decently, and should improve. The Caps will win on Friday.

Without Samsonov (and a block of an open net by Dillon) they would have been blown out.  So you are correct he played well but the overall performance by the Caps was underwhelming.  And thus my pessimism.

6:30 pm start again.  Apparently they have early curfew in Beantown.

Four team parlay tonight. Caps, Canes, Abs and Oilers.

Caps AND the Oilers to win playoff games in the same night?  You could have just given money to charity.
