Funny that the part of the world with by far the highest per capita annual consumption of beer would produce all of these hockey Methusulahs.

This reminds me of when they picked up Zezel 30 years ago, or Mike Knuble about 10 or so years ago. You hate that guy when he plays for the other team, but then you stop and think and you realize it's not a bad pickup, especially at the amount they're paying.

I dunno...I never hated Chara...I always respected him.

Seems like a stand-up guy...likely 'cause it's hard to bend over at his height and age...   :)

Hate is reserved for the likes of Shrek.  Not only is he an icehole...he's a coward as well...

Chara is awesome and he's still got juice in his game. Have to think Jensen is gone.

He's been a Bruin for so long, one almost forgets that he was with Ottawa for quite a while.  Remember those "battle of Ontario" playoff series that seemed to happen every year?  Now Chara is playing against Tie Domi's kid.

Played for the Islanders a few years before that.

Back when they were the "New Amsterdam Islanders" and skates were made out of wood.

I was supposed to meet the Caps for a game in Constantinople, but I couldn’t find them.

If (like us) any of you subscribe to YouTube TV, take note that next Friday is the first Caps game of the season set to air on NBC Sports Washington Plus, i.e., the alternate channel that goes live only when two games conflict with each other. YouTube TV doesn't carry that channel. The solution is to download the NBC Sports app and log into it using your YouTube TV user ID and password. Note that the NBC Sports "My Teams" app they advertise during the games doesn't seem to work properly with the YouTube TV login: I tried it last night as a way to avoid missing part of the game when I needed to go sit in the john during the second period (pausing the game wasn't an option because Ms1995hoo was watching), but it refused to show me the Caps game when I was logged in. The main NBC Sports app, however, worked fine.

The reason to set it up in advance is because if you want to run the NBC Sports app on a device like an Apple TV or an Amazon Fire TV device, you have to go through some rigamarole about "authorizing" the device. The easiest thing is to use your phone and scan the QR code that will appear on your TV screen when it comes time to log in. It may or may not make you enter your YouTube TV password on your phone (mine didn't), and then a few minutes later the TV screen will refresh on its own.

I lost the NBC Sports App on my older Apple TV as they no longer support it. So forced to watch in my lap top. Pushing the picture to the TV never seems to work well. Oh well.

I think he is the third goalie. Or maybe the fourth. On the taxi squad for now.

I’m guessing fourth since they signed Craig Anderson to the taxi squad.

Ok. Seems teams will need five goalies this year. Two for NHL games. One for the taxi squad. And two for the AHL.

I believe most of the ECHL is not playing although teams down in Florida are.

Sammy with a "Holtby"...going behind the net and coughing up the puck for a goal...

Taking way too many penalties...
