Washington Wizards 2020-21 Season
« Topic Start: November 18, 2020, 06:37:06 PM »
Time for a new Wiz thread with the draft tonight.  Who will the Wiz take at #9?  Or will they trade down.  Our will they trade the pick with John Wall for Russell Westbrook?

Stay tuned.

According to the nba.com scouting report, he lacks athleticism and can’t shoot - sounds like a wizard

I don't think anyone really knows about this kid.  The scouts saw something in him.  He looks like more of a point forward to me--ball handling seems his best skill.  His free throw shooting is bad however.  Keep in mind though that he has been playing as professional for three years in a league of men, while his counterparts were playing against high school kids or in college.  He looks plenty athletic from what I have seen on film.

Some highlights.  Anyway, we know Ted drafted him to get more Jewish fans.

He’s a fan of Inglorious Basterds.

Some sites had him as #2 in the draft.  I guess a lot of boom / bust potential. Big man with guard skills. Wiz could be very interesting with a couple of breaks.

a big man who can't shoot (including free throws)- awesome 15 years ago, useless in today's league

They needed a future replacement for Wall.

No, they needed to replace Gordat, looks like mission accomplished. :)

He plays nothing like Gortat. Maybe the second round pick could do that.

EDIT:  Nevermind. They traded Krejci for Cassius Winston from
Michigan State.

Wizards resign Davis Bertrans. Five years and $80 million. Last year is a player option.

Wizards also signed Anthony Gill who played at UVA. He has been playing overseas.

Well good luck with that at $40 million per year and coming of an Achilles tear as well as long term knee issues.

They should tell him he’s free to seek a trade- that will be a bit of a blue to his ego when he see what’s out there

2022 player option for 47 million- and a 15% trade kicker- no one is touching that

Houston wants to trade Westbrook for him. Same bloated salary and he is older. However Houston wants more than Wall. And I can’t blame then.

Wizards are better off hanging on to him than giving up assets to get rid of him.

Probably not but Houston wants to unload him also.

Wizards also signed Robin Lopez.  Unfortunately he is the weaker of the twin brothers.

Westbrook to the Wizards for Wall and a protected first-round pick.

Seems like an overpay for Washington.
