I saw the Sabres blew a 3-0 lead and lost in OT.  I like how they create new challenges for themselves now in losing.

Demko with a new 5 year, $25MM deal in Vancouver...Holtby riding the pine, and with one year left on his deal, that may be all for him as a league #1.  Holts has only played in 12 games this year.

Grubi has one of the best in hockey...good for him...

Caps sure do seem to have a lot of goalie storylines thru the years...

They probably just need to shut the Canucks down for the year. No one should be going to Vancouver with that Brazilian variant running amuck.

After falling out of favor with the Panthers, Brett Connolly is headed to the Blackhawks.

Be interesting to see if he is utilized in Chicago or if it was simply a move for the Blackhawks to get 2 good prospects as well while providing the Panthers some salary relief...

I haven’t been following the other divisions closely. I see the Blackhawks have a shot at the 4th spot. Also surprised Carolina and Florida are both ahead of Tampa. Isn’t Tampa also in Florida? Why do the Panthers get to claim the whole state by their name?

The Islanders seem to have made a good pick up getting Palmieri and Zajac.

the double minors or whatever let them back in.  But, that shorty was something. Deeks two guys to get to a clean shot by the goalie.

The thing no one should deny is the rat has skills beyond sucker punches.

He is one of the two biggest public enemies in the NHL, so there is that.  I'm bound by the fandom oath to only speak highly of the other one.

Madison Bowey and a 5th rounder to the Canucks from the Blackhawks for a 4th rounder.

Buffalo traded their star for a 2nd round pick and get to keep half of his salary.

It seems as if the Sabres' only reason to continue as a franchise is for the eventuality that Leafs fans will someday be able to return for cheap away tickets.  And to keep the beer lines clean at Keybank centre in between Whitesnake and Monster Truck Jam.

Gotta really wonder if the Pagula's actually get it.  I know they own the Bills and should have a sense of what it takes to be successful in the 4 major sports, but they have swung and missed at even slam dunks...

what's a  neutral / bruins hater view of picking up Taylor Hall?  Looks like he's on the 2d line with Krejci and Craig Smith, bumping DeBrusk and Ritchie to the 3d line with Coyle.  They are desperate to start getting goals from beyond the Perfection Line.

If it doesn’t hamstring budget, which it evidently doesn’t, worth a flyer especially since they gave up none of the 2021 core in return.

Based upon his 2021 output...can't see that he's gonna be a difference maker.  His +/- is dreadful, though he was with Buffalo, so some of that can be dismissed.

I think the best they can hope for is that he doesn't become a liability.  His career has been in decline for the past three seasons, so this "rebirth" in Beantown could make or break his future...

I really don't see that they "needed" a left winger with just 2 goals in 37 games...

he is supposed to have one of the more absurdly bad shooting % this year, way out of line with his past.  So yes, they are more or less ignoring the 2 goal output.

Good move for the Sabres. They were not going to negotiate with Taylor Hall, who make $8 million a year and will be a free agent. They tried half the season to make a trade, but nothing happened. Hall has a no-trade clause and says he wanted to play in Boston all along. For the Sabres, then, this was a chance to get something back for Hall, rather than nothing.

Oh, and Sabres pay half of whatever is left on Hall's salary. They are not paying half of $8 million.

So why did they sign Hall in the first place?  Could have signed three good players for what they paid him even if for one year.  Buffalo is a mess.

I've liked Bjork as a fast wing, so he'll contribute, but I think he's a stretch to develop into a second line wing. Probably a penalty killer who can take regular shifts as wing on a line on a checking line with a big guy on the other wing and a good face off center.

Signing Hall was a huge blunder, and paying him just slightly less that Ovie and Backstrom was GM malpractice. Sabres management might not do that again. Hall seemed like a nothing player in the last Caps - Bruins game. Looks like Bruins have decided to build from Eichel and their young players.

The Rangers fired Team President John Davidson and their GM...I'm guessing it had to do with them calling out Parros on the Wilson deal...

I read that was Dolan's idea to post the statement on Parros.  Maybe they opposed him.  They seem to be building at a good pace so a strange move to fire them.  But Dolan is a strange guy.  The Knicks have been a circus for years.
