It’s corny, even obvious, but this remains the greatest baseball event of my entire life: Jayson Werth’s NLDS walk-off

Lots of beers got thrown in the air in the Red Loft at that moment (mine included)

I was at that game. Last game of the season before the playoffs. I remember thinking before the game that it would be the perfect opportunity to enjoy a final relaxing day at the ballpark before we got into all the intensity of the playoffs. NOT! Of course I was on the edge of my seat for those last few innings. What a way to end the season. When Souza came up with the ball - well, it was just amazing.

We were there as well...it was the bottom of the 7th inning before I realized he had a no-no going...

Another fun closing day (after an otherwise-stank season) was Justin Maxwell's walk-off slam against the Mets...I guess that was 10 years ago almost to the day.

It was for me as well, until Mr. Kendrick doubled down on that last year...

Sounds like you had that “drink a few beers and relax” vibe going too!

Games 2 and 3 in that first NYY series at RFK were great (06 I guess).  Mo and Wang got torched by the dregs of the NL East.  Apparently Spike Lee was spotted having a fit after Zimm hit the WO.  My section was 90% Yankees fans.

Best ones i ever attended were Lobaton’s HR against the Dodgers in the NLDS, and Justin Maxwell’s grand slam to end the season against the Mets (2011 I think?)

The worst NLDS games experiences imaginable short of being broken on the wheel:

Two-way tie: Storen Game 5, 18-inning Game 2

Missed the first one, thankfully, but sat thru the entire second one...unfortunately...

Can’t imagine one worse than 2012 game 5.

I was at the Zimmermann no-hitter and what I remember most about that game is that there was a raffle where you could win the actual jerseys the players wore in that game (the bidding closed in like the 5th inning or something) and some woman won the right to Zimmermann's jersey for a pretty paltry sum, like $1,100 I want to say.

I believe she withdrew and let Zimmermann keep it.

I was also at Werth's walk-off game in the 2012 NLDS and it does not seem significant today, though at the time it was huge.

As much as it hurt, it was a good learning experience for me. I didn't follow sports until 2007, so I got to watch the Nats go from trash to the postseason. I was sure they were The Team Of Destiny. Game 5 was a massive gut punch that left me in a state almost akin to grieving. At that point I realized I needed to not tie my happiness so closely to a sports team. Just a silly thing to do since all but one team end up missing the mark every year, no matter the sport.

Back then, and every year but this, you bought $5 raffle tickets.  It wasn't a bid like it is this year.  She must have bought 220 of them...

I was just thinking about that 18-inning Yusmeiro Petit game since they don't have the automatic runner on 2nd in the playoffs this year. That is a thing that could happen again to some sad sack of a team in the next few weeks.

To add insult to injury, the Nats signed Petit afterwards and he was bad here.

And good again after he left IIRC

Me as well.  Haven't attended a playoff game since the latter.  Was also at Zimmermann's no-no.  I might have been the only person there besides Souza who thought he was going to catch it.
