And again, no one said we needed or expect his play to be 2018 levels. But to trash all over a camp invite for literally nothing more than enjoying hearing yourself speak.
Lol, you're the one that compared him to 2018

Sigh. I compared his numbers to that of 2018. Over a 23 game sample size. There's some sort of promise there. Never once did I say we are getting 2018 version of him. I find it laughable that your argument for him being a total diaster of a signing is his unsustainable ERA, WHIP and BABIP but his rock solid no way it could change never in a million years K and BB rates are your proof. That fact you're calling a camp flyer such a diaster of a signing is hilarious.

Well considering his numbers last year were on par with his 2018 then you should be.

Now I'm saying I'm not having this back and forth with you over your translation to my words. Cherry pick your stats however you wish to help you sleep at night. Jeffress being runner up reliever of the year to Williams last year on a camp invite deal is solid addition. But you think you'd have prevented Rizzo from making such a gruesome mistake seeing as your position with the team was what again?

I forget. Is it dobermans that bite once, lock, and don't let go, and pit bulls that bite multiple times and maul? Slate will not let go.

It is a flyer, and not much more. Spaghetti against a wall. Do it enough something might stick. So might Dakota Bacus or Sam Clay

No one needs to translate your words. You put them out there. You have Jeffress as a solid addition. Blue streak agrees with my assessment. That you use 2020 stats and ERA as justification is just a laughable as vark telling everyone that Scherzer wasnt good because he only had 14 wins.

Cherry pick stats all you wish. Solid addition for a camp arm is far from expecting him to be an all star, which I've never said. You took my solid addition claim and twisted that into me saying he's an all star lock. I've lurked here long enough to know your rhetoric. Talking the loudest doesn't make you correct. Hats off to you.

Lol, you are the one that put him at the all star level, not me.

You claimed he was a solid addition. Then you claimed that he pitched like his all star year. Now he's a "camp arm." You should pick one and stick to it.

So yes, they were. He's a NRI on a minor league deal. You can do a crap ton worse.

Literally the second post I made about it. Im still looking for where it says All-star. Maybe I'll go fetch my reading specs.

2018 was the year he was an all star. Here, let me help you:
Well considering his numbers last year were on par with his 2018 then you should be.

You said 2020 was "on par" with 2018. So, according to you, 2020 Jeffress was an all star caliber reliever. So you went from all star caliber reliever to .... camp fodder? You contradict yourself so much I cant actually keep track anymore.

Yep. His numbers were comparable. Idk how that translates to I'm calling him a lock to be an all star for 2021. He was also runner up NL reliever of the year in 2020. So I guess my comparing of stats vastly outweighs you cherry picking walk rates lol. But I guess everyone else is wrong and you're the only correct one on this and every other subject that rolls across your timeline lol.

Jeffress on a minor league deal with camp invite. Really solid addition.

Literally no one on baseball believes Jeffress is a major league reliever. No one. If they did, he'd have a major league invite.

And for the at least 8th time, he's solid for a MINOR LEAGUE DEAL

What you have to keep in mind is that you have no chance of getting him to agree. Maybe if you say it was a liquid pickup he will switch to solid.  :hysterical:

Jeffress career stats. His life in MLB has been a rollercoaster.  He’s also from South Boston.

This already was our best and deepest bullpen on paper heading into a season in a long time.  Jeffress is just even more depth if he pans out, and nothing is lost if he doesn't.  Bullpen guys are very volatile statistically year to year, in large part due to a much smaller amount of innings compared to starters and less opportunities for stats to normalize.  You often see scrap-heap guys have great years as well as higher-priced guys struggle.  That's why depth is important.  The more guys you stack up with a reasonable chance to be effective, the better.  We should be able to have at least 3 or 4 quality guys healthy at all times, and best case even more.

Which is a rather far cry from Regular Boston.
