And LaStella to the Giants.
we need to grab Kolten Wong.  He's a better defender and a good lefty bat.

Family being huge Sox fans, he was a huge prospect for them.  Sad how far he fell.

Looks like he had a heckuva rookie season but then the bottom fell out. What happened?

injuries, lack of playing time, and being shuffled all over the field.

Almost 29 which is pert near senior citizen territory for catchers this looks like a classic case of dumpster diving then. Carry on.

I found it amazing this off-season if a team had chosen to do so, they could have added gold gloves at second, short and cf in Simmons, wong and Jbj. I would love to have Wong here for his defense and filling that second spot in the order.

has Realmuto won a GG?  Then that is the whole "up the middle."

As for Swihart, i remember an argument Elvir and I had about whether trading Harper with 1 year left for Benintendi and Swihart would work.  Benintendi at least was the #1 trated prospect in MLB I think and ended up pretty valuable on a WS winner.  As for Swihart, many Sox fans feel the team was guilty of severe malpractice with him.  They had Cristian Vasquez and Sandy Leon, and were unwilling to dump Leon because he had one weird offensively adequate year and all the pitchers loved throwing to him.  The Sox liked Swihart so much they tried to make him a multi-position guy, playing him in LF and I think 3d and maybe even elsewhere.  While learning left in Fenway, he had a severe leg injury.  He never really made it back as a super-utility, could not get enough PAs in the majors to develop as a hitter, and basically became useless space on the 40 man.  I forget if he was traded to AZ at one point or whether they just got him on waivers, but he never was able to crack their line up.

To see Lester throwing to Swihart would just cause all of the Sox fans to like . . . Where's the Randy Marsh picture?

Will anyone of them hit for average this season?

Leon is still available. Not sure why Rizzo didn’t sign the Buffalo

Simmons hits for average. He doesn't have power, but he makes contact

If Swihart can learn to catch, he can be useful.  But that was always the deal with him.

I think I read somewhere thst Simmons is the hardest current MLB player to strike out.

I would have loved him here for that one year, 10.5 mil deal he signed with the Twins.

Im sure he could have played 2B and then we would get Luis Garcia and Carter Kieboom another year to develop.

There is no freaking way you sign the greatest shortstop defender in the history of baseball to play second base. You put Trea Turner at second base (where he should be anyway) and let Simmons give you 15+ DRS

This might not be the right spot for it, but I've noticed they're using the "Nationals" script jerseys for the photoshoped selection on the new player announcements. Are we seeing the :w: jerseys fading out?

I hope not.  Those are the best-looking ones of the set, and I think they're the iconic ones.

1. Turner
2. Castro
3. Soto
4. Bell
5. Schwarber
6. Gomes
7. Kieboom
8. Robles

Bench (5): Zimmerman, Stevenson, Harrison, Avila
*My guess is Swihart makes the team as the 26th guy.

Rotation:

1. Scherzer
2. Strasburg
3. Corbin
4. Lester
5. Ross

Bullpen (8 guys)

Long=Fedde or Voth...think Fedde has an option so that may determine who makes the team Opening Day
LH=Clay or another addition like Doo
RH Middle=Suero/Finnegan
Late=Harris/Hudson/Rainey/Hand

This is an interesting roster.   They should be good and they didn’t give up any prospects that amount to much.  Probably one bat short of really being elite but should chase Rizzos coveted 90 wins.  Season hinges on the big three starters.  If they are healthy and dominate we could contend.

Sign Wong.

Oh, the back end of the bullpen should be known as "Rainey and Triple H" (Hand, Harris, Hudson).

Two veteran catchers with experience calling games for HoF pitchers and having significant postseason success doesnt inspire confidence?
