My Friday wish will be Alex colone and tommy Lastella. I would not be terrible sad to go to work with what we got. But Lastella replaces 2019 Eaton in the two hole, and colone would be the best closer we have had in a while.

Like many years of the past it feels like how good they are, how far they go is determined by how devastated by injuries they are. When they happen and how spread out it is.

Alex Avila, Robinson Chirinos, Tyler Flowers, Austin Romine, Tony Wolters.

Not exactly an inspiring list.

probably the best of the  rest.  My views of Avila are colored by owning him in roto during some of his down years.

Actually, Molina is still out there, too, as is the Buffalo.  I'd take Flowers over Ramos due to D.  Molina I think would be more expensive than Flowers but most projections have them comparable.

I wouldn't bring him in to be that. But he's realistically the only option, non trade, I'd be ok with. Defensively and he isn't a total waste of an at bat.

Agreed, but if he were to sign, I could see him being the #1 and Gomes being the backup.  I/M/O, I prefer Flowers for the money, or maybe Avila.  I am getting back to my

obsession, but I like Avila being a lefty bat to take some PAs against righties away from Gomes.  Avila's defense is not below average. Gomes is very effective hitting lefties.  I don't know if Davey will line up catchers with pitchers, but since both are capable defensively, I could see a more matching up based on the opponents starters rather than being somebody's caddy.  Also, FWIW, it looks like Avila caught Corbin a lot in 2018 when they were with the D-backs, and Corbin is the toughest guy to catcher among the starters.

I really don't see how they can make this move, regardless of how good of a fit he is.

Good to hear we are pursuing him. I am probably off the beaten path, but I prefer Colome. Either way, a closer to lead the pen is now our biggest glaring weakness, unless you are in the camp that Kieboom and or Garcia cannot fill third. I believe we are at 184 million, which has us about 26 million below the cap. I am hopeful we can get a closer and someone of the Lastrella/turner/wong or heck even Marwin Gonzales ilk. I know most everyone is happy with Fedde or Ross in that fifth position, but man 👨 would love one more arm for the rotation as well. Would I be satisfied if we just got a closer? Probably. As someone often mentions we can see if kieboom or Garcia performs or if our rotation has aged out and make decisions at the trade deadline.

While we are discussing brad hand, how does everyone feel about Hudson? I love him in the 7th or 8th,  but I believe the club is asking a lot of him to close or share closing duties.

26 mil should get us Hand at 10 mil a year, room to pay a catcher after a trade and a 3B like Marwin Gonzalez for 3 or 4 million.
