I thought they confirmed no NL DH this year.
I think they said don't plan on it.

I would like La Stella, either at 2d or 3d, with Castro at the other, whatever is better D.  RH starters killed us lasst year, and adding Bell Swlabr and La Stella would probably mean Gomes and Robles would stop seeing so many right. Gomes is very good against LHP, so La Stella would upgrade Gomes.

That said, he may not be cheap. Gyorko is somebody who bats right that I would think about at 3d. Finally, if we did pick up La Stella, then you might be able to package Castro in a deal with Kieboom or Garcia and a.couple of top prospect pitchers in a deal for a starter or 3d baseman to clear some money (I assume Castro has negative trade value due to his contract (

I just read the holdup in the Eugenia Suarez deal is they wanted Jackson and Cade in addition to kieboom. I mean, no wonder the deal held up. I’d expect sonny gray back with Suarez for that haul. The more I think about it, the more I feel good about LaStella in that number two hole.

If you are referring to the MLB Trade Rumors article,.  I read it as the Nats didn't want to give up either.  Not that they were asking for both.  That would be way too much.

Cade as in Cavalli or Cate as in our #4 pitching prospect?  At any rate, Rutledge plus another of the top 5 pitchers is a bit much .

Suarez is empty power + lots of Ks.  Cannot afford that when we have already added two heavy strikeout guys (bell and schwarber).

I'mma say it again, jose ramirez would be a great get. Kieboom, Lara, and one of Cavalli/Rutledge as the baseline

That’s right. I read the mlb trade rumor quickly. It got my blood pressure up! Lol! After rereading not as terrible as I thought. Still, more than I would give up.

Think we definitely need to hold on to both Cavalli and Rutledge.

Not for the right haul, but generally yes

On a dollar for dollar basis we traded in Eaton and got Schwarber.  No question Schwarber can't match Eaton defensively but there's no question he will mash more than Eaton. I suspect our pitching staff is already gearing up for additional outfield errors.

Well, sure, but Eaton's contract is awful.  I wouldn't have been surprised if he'd had to take a minor league deal.

Well hes basically making the same amount he would have made here. And he gets to go to a winning team.

Man, Liam Hendricks for 54 million? Shades of wade davis money. Relievers are notoriously erratic year to year.

Well I maybe wrong but Zuck only covers the Nats and as tight lipped as Rizzo and the Lerners are we almost never hear about impending trades or signings until they happen.

And he works for MASN so if he wants to keep his job he isn't going to rock the boat by being critical or go 2nd guessing.

I feel like good long term beat reporters. cultivate other sources, be they lower level front office people, players, agents, even club house people. Zuck seems to just accept what he's told and report on that

Do you really think the Lerners are going to allow Woodward and Bernstein to have free reign roaming the halls of Nats Park? They don't want criticism, they want puff piece, chamber of commerce type reporting. Rah, rah, rah.

Nearly 25 teams showed up at Corey Kluber's showcase today, and scouts came away impressed. His fastball sat 88-90 -- and he's got more velocity in the tank as he builds toward spring training. Kluber threw 30 pitches, including all of his off-speed stuff. Strong market expected.

For the record, in his prime, Kluber sat 92-93, and was touching 95-96 in a season.

Why wouldn't the other 5-ish teams at least show up?

no one expects zuckerman to break dirt on rizzo but the guy can't even get the scoop on a minor league free agent, or DFA, or anything. guy can't even ask some internal scouts what they think of guys. he might as well be a robot regurgitating press releases.

That very well could be in his job description. 15 years longevity so he must be doing something right as far as his bosses are concerned.

as long as the checks keep clearing i dont blame him, but i also laugh at anyone who bothers engaging with him beyond his good "mark zuckerberg!" bit. if you want nats info from him you might as well just ask a magic 8 ball.

Knowing the Lerner family and having done some business with them I would hazard a guess that saying anything no matter how trivial at any level is a firable offence. If you recall some upper management guy who was in charge of the luxury tax was fired when they went over it several years ago.
